I was alt tabbing between a game and windows last night, when it hung. So I rebooted thinking it would solve the problem. Now windows wont even START. It comes up with the following error message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select r at the first screen to start repair.
Problem is, I've left all my CDs in England. I didnt think I'd be needing it as I had no intention to format my HD. Is there anything online I can use to repair this? I've got access to a CD burner at school. How about if I borrow a friends windows cd?
Thanks,

Well, if you can't find someone willing to lend you a copy, you can always go to the tunnel near Yongsan and pick up a pirate copy for 10-20,000 won (depending on your negotiating ability.) |

What is your e-mail... Depending on what windows you are using I may be able to send you a clean copy of the file and you can try to just copy it into the directory. I assume you have some bootable disk or CD?
Alternatively depending on what windows version you are using or want to switch to, I can put an image of an OEM copy on-line for you to download and burn at work.
3rd choice is go to the tunnel and get a pirate copy and just repair or re-install your windows. |
