Well, It's summer. Time to get out the deodorant. I could smell myself at school today. From tomorrow, I'm going to keep a stick at school and one at home.

I think Westerners are as paranoid about B.O. as Koreans are about cavities. They brush their teeth. We spray on perfumes and slap on deodorants.

Deodorants seem to not be present in the hygiene departments of Korean department stores. Don't Koreans and other Orientals smell? What's the scoop on this? Anybody know?

Since iv'e stopped eating meat and eaten only Korean food, I smell significantly less.

Discussed this with Koreans while I wasn't living here.

They were like:

Deodorants don't work.

See what they consider deodorants:

Axel Body Spray. That's not DEODORANT. That's a kind of prefume.

They know little about Right Guard, SURE, etc...

The true test: Put on deodorant, then take a shower.

The ones that keep your pits dry are bonafide.

On the other hand, Asians (not just Koreans) seem to be less smellier than we are.

Just like they need to shave less.

For men: If they characterize your body hair as smelly and barbarian, point out that we consider it manly.

You've never smelled a classroom of Korean university freshmen at 2pm after they spent their lunchtime playing basketball or soccer. Koreans do smell, too. Heck, there was this bodybuilder at my gym who probably never washed his gym clothes. I could smell him from 10 feet away. I always made sure never to use a machine after he did.

I keep hearing how Westerners stink.

Therefore I'd like an explanation why Mister Bright-Orange shirt who thought he had a chance picking me up had me wishing I'd had a bucket when he leaned closer.

Just because some cultures don't use deoderant doesn't mean they couldn't benefit from using deoderant.




(Like in India, where they won't wear it because they think it makes their skin dark. And they CERTAINLY need it in the midst of summer - just like other people do.)
