LOL 1 million won firm. what a ripoff. For those not informed there is a $1099 macbook that is 1.8Ghz DUAL CORE - 2 processors and runs Windows XP with a 60% brighter widescreen. They are in stores now. Just get someone to mail it to you from the states.

Gotta say, he's right. The new 13 inch Macbooks only about 150 bucks more than that. If you seriously want someone to buy it, you'll need a deep discount. Sounds more like you're wanting the sale of this one to finance a purchase of the new one, with hardly any out-of-pocket cost to yourself. Ain't gonna happen.

In the seller's defence, it's not that overpriced. I would personally rather have his powerbook than one of the forthcoming macbooks. That's because I have 50+ software packages, which won't run on the new macs without updated versions. By looking at the specs, it looks like a less than one year old model that would have been costing a good coin a year ago. Personally, I don't care if the new macs can run windows, cause I want to avoid that as much as possible.

Also in the seller's defence, I think there are people willing to pay that much though I also think they're the uninformed type. It's a moot point, however; judging by the OP's absence I think this was one of those feeler-type threads.

Not sure I understand this. Don't the intel macs run all PPC apps through rosetta?

It's actually a two-year-old revision (released April 2003). I think it would be a mistake to choose a G4 at this pricepoint over a MacBook. Not only does the MacBook smoke the G4 powebooks but regardless of whether you run windows or not, that ability future-proofs the MacBook to some extent and reinforces its resale value.

I think 700 - 800k is a more realistic pricepoint, but maybe I'm biased because I want it. Very Happy

RE: Cheem's previous post

I hadn't heard of Rosetta. Just looked it up. Looks like my old software should keep running on the new mac series. Do you think it will run at the same speed?

http://www.apple.com/rosetta/

Here's the text:

"The Universal truth
Most of the applications that come on your Intel-based Mac are Universal applications, designed for screaming performance with the Intel Core Duo. That includes Mac OS X, iLife 06, Safari and Mail. Most existing applications will continue to run, thanks to Rosetta. Pro applications from Apple including Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Logic Pro, Logic Express, Shake and Final Cut Express are not supported by Rosetta. For most applications, you can upgrade to the Universal version for minimal cost (see Apple Applications to right). Third-party applications that require precision real-time playback may perform better with a Universal version. For the expected arrival dates of Universal versions of third-party applications, check with their manufacturers."

If you're doing video editing, rendering big photoshop files, or anything really processor intensive, then yeah, you'll probably run into a small lag (from what I understand), but for most of your day-to-day activities, you really shouldn't notice a difference. Since it's built in, it's like Spotlight. It's working at the core level. If I've understood all that I've read about it.

I have'nt replied because I'm busy and tired of haveing to defend uninformed opionions.

Yes there is a new Macbook but it has an intel video card that shares memory with the system, it also has less ram and a slower and smaller HD. As well as being bigger and heavier.

If you look at at the current bench marks for the new Macbook they are marginaly better than the 12" G4 especialy for photoshop and really bad for games because of the intel video card.

First generation system are inherintly buggy also.
