Lord Toad, are you finally calling it quits on your blog? What's the skinny?

Do your subjects in your Jeju fiefdom monopolize all your time these days?

I have had kids say I am a mean teacher. I simply reply, "thank you" and walk off.

I would have done the same thing in this instance. It's a matter of the person's opinion. Whether it is right or wrong is arbitrary.

one of my classes tells me I'm a bad teacher every day - usually around homework time or when they have to take a test. This same class tells me I'm a beautiful teacher, good teacher when I let them play hangman in the last 5-10 mins of class. Take it all with a pinch of salt. As for other teachers observing my classes - one of the K teachers came to a few of my classes one week because she wanted to observe their ability to speak English, she proceeded to talk to them in Korean for half the class Shocked

You didn't clarify if it was a Korean or native speaker but whoever it was must be a competitive, insecure person. Pay no heed!

Somehow, this "you're a bad teacher" thing doesn't seem to be happening to me in Korea. I got in once or twice in Taiwan. In the beginning. In kindergarten. And only from the little kids. That probably came from the parents and had nothing to do with my teaching ability. Maybe.

I just don't get why she would be saying this. That's really insulting.

I live in the country. I went out to eat today with a Korean friend. I suggested to go to the nearest town to drink after and he was too drunk. Now it's going to cost me 20,000 Won each way in a taxi alone. I live in the boonies.

Ask this same teacher if you can go and watch one of HER classes. Is she an English teacher? If so, I bet she craps herself...
