If you haven't caught the box cutter attack on Park Geyun Hye check it out here. It's a bit hard to watch. The ajosshi could have done worse, I suppose. Apparently after one drunk wife beater type slashed her, another drunk wife beater type tried to punch her.

Who wants to bet the guys who attacked her were just pissed off about their property taxes? Reminds me a bit of that drunken ajosshi who tried to torch the Suwon fortress. He was upset about his credit card debts or something. So burn down a national treasure... I think some other drunken ajosshi tried to light up a palace gate in Seoul because he was pissed off about his parking tickets. And the guy who torch the Daegu subway system was upset that his personal life wasn't going well...

I swear the women gotta really wrestle the power away from the dufus crew trying to pass itself off as Korean manhood.

English story here.

Other bizarre attacks:

- Guy who was upset about Roh's impeachment lit his car on fire and tried to drive it into the national assembly building.

- The mother/son team who cut their fingers off for Dokdo.

- The guy who torched himself in Jongno to make some point about Dr. Hwang.

- The guy who tried to gut himself like a fish over Dokdo.

Earlier Friday, a man attempted to drive his car up the steep steps into the Assembly hall in protest. When the car stalled, the man got out and set the car on fire, said police Sgt. Lee Sun-kyun.

"I will kill them all!" the man shouted as Assembly guards overpowered him.

According to ohmynews: "A protestor's clothing catches fire outside the Japanese Embassy in downtown Seoul, March 18"

The man who tried to gut himself over dokdo.

The famous finger crew.

Could we maybe keep this kinda anti-adjossi crap confined to the General Forum? Current Events is for discussing politics, not petty ex-pat resentments.

(And in any case a good chunk of Dr. Hwang's most fanatical followers are Korean women, those supposed paragons of rationality.)

right on!

AND I think the box cutter attack is a VERY Current Event. On The Other Hand, why cant't people express their opinions here if it's related to a current event?

Bad point.

I was not against discussing the attack on Ms. Park, just the way in which the discussion became a typical ex-pat's rant against Korean men.

On a Current Events thread about the middle east, for example, would you see someone complaining about arab and/or Jewish males? You might if it were about an issue specifically related to gender relations, but not otherwise.

I wouldn't be suprised if someone powerful is behind this attack.

For one, the guys being drunk appears to be a diversion. It was meant to hide the fact that it was premeditated.

"Doctors said the one-to-three millimeter deep cut damaged the muscle controlling her jawbone, thus she cannot speak for two weeks and will probably suffer from a speech impediment for several months. "

Obviously, the slasher knew what he was doing.

To top it all off, it was done in a very visible manner in front of TV cameras, thus ensuring that the general public would see images of the attack.

if you think that this is just some drunk ajossi acting drunk, you are sorely mistaken. Connect the dots: Pyongtaek and the communist terrorists there, recent statements from the North, Roh's "unconditional support for North Korea", even the disgraceful DJ's trip to the DPRK and then put that up against Uri's fall in the recent polls and their more than likely humiliating defeat in the elections. This is NOT some drunk ajossi. What you saw was what happens when communists get desperate. This was political assassination, a clear sign of whwre democracy, the rule of law, respect for others has gone under the rule of the Uri party and Roh. Who wanted her dead is a good question, but I know who I think did it. You figure it out for yourself. One thing is for sure, this will not come to light as long as the communists are in charge.

I wonder how that guy will be punished. I hope he goes to prison. My husband said she required 60 stitches to close the gash. So much for employing "bodyguards". Rolling Eyes
