I'm interested in how other westerners like Korean names, ones like park you man etc. arent the most pleasant. So whats your favourite Korean names (state if they are boy or girl, I am a korean ignorami)

My two favourite girls names are

Ahra 아라 and Hye Rin 혜린

I like Hana (하나) too but its identical to Hannah so I dont count it.

I like So Young for a girl. I don't really like any of the male Korean names--although my husband's has grown on me. Razz

I really hate Hyun or Bo in any combination. They don't have the obvious risibility of Suk or Bum or Bong, but they're still ugly to my ear.

Punny.

My favorite surname is Seol and my favorite girl's name is A-Reum. Korean boy's names don't really do it for me. I also generally like pure Korean names better than the Chinese based ones. Had a kid with a three syllable name: (Kim)Yea-Seu-Ran. That was a cool one too.

I always like Min Gi for a boy and Haneul for a girl...

I have a hard time calling this girls name out: Yu Suk Me. I sometimes try to say Sock me but that also sounds weird.

JuHwan ( or these days spelt JooHwan) - it means "orange" the parents gave it to the boy because he was born with that very dark orange (brown) skin... his parents call him JuHwan-na - I call him JuHwan-ni

but then I also like the name "Hyuck-Jin" just kind of sounds nice when I am calling that name (HyuckJin come here!)

No question, the girls' names are the bee's knees (huh?). One of my students is named 우라 , which I think is pretty cool in a Star Trekky, alternative universe kind of Milky Way (though it could be the wine talking), but then I'm also still partial to the handle of that long-time former girlfriend (which is not to say former long-time girlfriend), 수현. Oh, let's not forget 수진 , which name is perhaps attractive primarily on account of having been attached to the most lustworthy specimen currently inhabiting the planet, so far as I'm aware.

By the way, Walmart has some great sales on wines this week. I can assure you that all of the ones I drank tonight were commendable, whatever they were called. (The names have been forgotten to protect the indigent. Moreover, Popes Innocent I through XIII are long since dead and presumably under protection of higher Authority anyway.)

Carry on.

I'm partial to Yoon-Ah and Mi-Ah for girls, Dae-il for boys. I also like Ji-Eun for girls, but that may be because I happen to know a lot of very nice Ji-Euns at the moment.

I like some of the boys names. 희상 is cool, 규동, 상욱. . . .

Girls names that have 주 or 진 are usually nice. 주희, 해진, 진희, and so forth.

An unusual name that I like is 귀련. Sounds like "cute" and also the little girl was adorable.

Most names I dislike contain 범. One of my students is 동범 which, since 동 and 똥 sound almost identical to me, makes his name sound like "crap bum".

Q.

I like 빛나 a lot - it means Venus!

I love most of the names without Chinese characters, most of which are girl's names. 아름, 하늘, 바다,...

I know a girl who's family name is 조 and her name is 은소리. Just say it fast one time...

I like the names 나라 /누리 also girls names (country/world and their family name is 신).

For boys names i like the 재 names, the 진 names..

Perhaps association but I love the names 수연 and 수현. I love 현주. I love 회정. (esp. cause it's 정회정).

I liked the name 지오 (and how is he these days?)

Even though they always belong to rabidly Christian families, I love 요한 and 요셒 (요샢?) (요샙?).

I like 하나. I had a student once 일이 that was a cool name.

I like women's names that end in 아. You know like 현아, 정아, 진아, those all sound nice.

But my all time favorite Korean woman's name is 꽃내.

Consonant shift there. Should be pronounced Seong Me.
