I've had a problem with Firefox for the past couple of weeks.

When I am typing - an email, in google, anywhere - when I hit the apostrophe key ['] it jumps to the "Find" with the search box at the bottom. Now, to use the shortcut for find, it should be CTRL+F or CTRL+G (for Find again), so I really can't figure it out.

This is not constant, which to me is more annoying! I could be in an email typing away with no problems, using the ' key, and then just one time, when I type an ' it jumps down. From that point, it will happen until I restart my computer, leaving me to close Firefox and switch to IE.

Is this some strange bug in Firefox that others have noticed, or is it just mine? I have kept up with all of the updates that it automatically prompts me to do, and I have no viruses that I can find (Norton).

I don't know why it started for me, or why it started for you, but go to tools / options / advanced, then the general tab and uncheck the "Begin finding when you begin typing" box.

Thanks for this, Draven. I've had this happen a few times in the past month. Thought it was just the computer I was using.

I checked in the TOOLS tab, and mine is already unchecked, but then I hit the apostrophe key and got FIND anyway. Evil or Very Mad

I was digging through the Mozilla site today and apparently it is a common bug in Firefox, but there were no suggestions on how to make it stop! Apparently the forward slash key will also activate it at times. That's not happened to me yet, only the apostrophe. (HEY, I just got away with writing that's. TWICE!)

Cheers!
