Tiger Beer,
My classroom is set up with two rectangle tables pushed together to form a square. No other setup possible in the small room. So, yes, we all talk about the same topic, with one person talking at a time. I try to make sure that every person has their say, and sometimes I designate one or more persons as devils advocate or in another role. |
Actually, I see no reason why that should prevent pair or small group discussions. It's good simulation for real-world, noisy environments. |

I have tried it before, but unfortunately each group or pair will speak only korean unless I am actually standing over them. Most of them are uni students, with two adults. I have another class of seventeen, and they are enthusiastic about group work, and stick to english.
I agree that real world environment practise is good, but perhaps not at their level. |
