A school wants me to start at the end of July, but I don't receive my degree certificate until the middle of July meaning there is not enough time for a visa.
She says I can come over on a tourist visa and begin working straight away and then they will get the visa sorted whilst I'm working.
Is that all above board? Any problems that could happen? |

No, it's not legal.
Yes, you will be fined, blacklisted and deported. (unless the boss has connections with immigration and well.. you know... ) |

It is NOT legal.
It is also NOT uncommon for this to occur.
If you decide to do it:
The recruiter gets paid
The school has their marketable item and
YOU take the risk.
Best guesstimate ... less than 25% get caught...
IF you get caught you MAY be:
fined or
jailed or
deported and/or
blacklisted at immigration.

The schools always say it's okay we know someone at immigration. It doesn't matter who the hell they know you'll still get in sh*t for it. |

NEVER commence a position until the E-2 visa is in your passport no matter what a recruiter/employer claims. Period. |

It is illegal.
You might not get busted for it but why take the chance? |
