A Story of Abuse and Neglect
Police investigations reveal an appalling state of affairs at a home for people with disabilities in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province. The pastor in his 60s who ran the place is said to have kept the disabled in chains. If they were still difficult, he reportedly force-fed them tranquilizers until they became sick, and six of them died of such overdoses, according to the police.... Insects crawl in the cups Alzheimer's patients drink from, and one inmate with cerebral palsy was not allowed out of the building for a year and a half. Food was prepared from leftovers from schools. Three female inmates were sexually assaulted.

The place was run by a pastor? WTH? So much for his Christian beliefs. You'd have thought that the people who came in to bathe the disabled residents would have reported such conditions to the police of city hall or something a long time ago. Sheesh...

The NY Times a few years exposed a bunch of places that were making a killing by forcing the residents to have unnecessary eye surgeries. *shudders*
