I'll call them. I love fighting with Korean bosses.

Blacklist 'em here so maybe no one ever goes there again.

actually, I heard that hogwan owners are now creating a blacklist of "bad teachers" for themselves. It has nothing to do with immigration. If I were you, I would apply directly to a school and not use any recuiter. As well, I would probably stay out of Seoul.

You "heard" this? If someone is reading this right now and you are fluent in Korean, would you please do an engine search to verify if this is true or not. Please post the link here. Until someone can verify this "blacklist," I'm not so sure it exists. I'd be curious to find out one way or the other.

Ah, Eddie, there are those on this forum who will dole out a little sympathy, but I be not one of them. Chin up, stop that quivering lip, look me in the eye, and be a man, damn it! You signed on for a year in good faith, much like the Marines. Look in the mirror, Eddie, and kick the fellow you see. You screwed up and now you're paying the piper, to mix a few metaphors. Live and learn, and the next time you make a promise, and in writing, keep it.

Tarheel13, we may sign a yearly contract, but we do have the right to leave if we wish. The OP resigned, served out his notice and left. No midnight runs, no quitting, I'm leaving, here's my notice. To the OP, head off to the labour board and file a complaint. Go to immigration with a friend who speaks Korean because unless there had some major staff changes at Ulsan immi, you'll need a Korean speaker. Find out where you stand. Good luck. Smile

How I heard about a blacklist was when I accepted an offer to work at a hogwan in Seoul. After accepting, I was given a better offer at another school. I told the previous guy that I was staying in Canada to work. He told me that he was very unhappy with me and that I would be put on a blacklist that hogwans in Seoul use.

That was smart.

Is someone seriously going to call this place on behalf of an internet stranger from whom we have heard only half of a story? It's the OP's word against the director. What are we, Korean? We believe the OP because he is 'one of ours'? Perhaps he was wronged, perhaps not. Perhaps the director is acting terribly, perhaps the OP. I honestly believe that for every few awful directors, there is an equally awful foreigner.

Given the new 'laws' on internet slander / libel, I thinks it's silly to post names and locations of people or places in rant-posts against them.

Ahh, it's in Ulsan. That explains everything. Dem niggas is crazy and drunk. There might be a local area blacklist, but f-it. You don't want to live there anyway.

I really doubt immi sits around making a list of every wongjangnim's little complaint. Most likely IF you are on their blacklist it would be because you did a runner.

I agree with a previous poster. How can anyone want to blacklist this employer based on the immature behavior and rantings of the OP who has taken a one-sided view on the issue and failed to fulfill his contract, and at great cost to the employer. Go figure. Good night, Eddie, and don't stop looking in that mirror.

Does anyone have a list of the kinds of things that could get an E2 holder put on the blacklist with immigration?

Here, I'll start with just a few that I think are obvious:

1.) Midnight run
2.) Physically abusing a student
3.) Physically assaulting a co-worker, boss etc.
4.) Arrested for teaching privates
5.) Showing support for North Korea (University Faculty only)

Am I wrong? Is there anything else that could get you black listed (i.e. a student or parent complained)? You were sick too many days and missed classes?
