| I am wondering how much luggage one should bring to Korea? Is three large suitcases too much for a couple moving to Seoul? We have packed everything from a years worth of deoderant to our winter clothes. Will they think we are crazy if we step off the plane with that much stuff? |

Three suitcases for two people? That's not bad at all.
In my opinion, the only thing you really need to bring are clothes. You can find just about anything these days. Like deoderant. You just need to bring one or two bars.
The only essentials I'd say are conversion things for your electrical items. I brought two. You can probably find them cheaper in Korea, but as a new arrival, it'll be easier if you just bring them with you.
A lot of people say to bring spices you like. That might be a good idea if you cook a lot. I just brought over some seasoning mixes, but you can actually find some good chicken and beef season mixes here.
Last time I was in the US, I sat around trying to think of things I needed to stock up on. Couldn't think of anything, so I just bought a bunch of clothes.

| I brought two hockey bags full of stuff, and both were right at the weight limit. I really didn't need all the stuff, and I probably could have done it with one hockey bag and a small suitcase. |

just one bit of advice - instead of buying a lot of power adaptors, buy just one or two, and also take a power board - like this :
this is an aussie one... your sockets may be different. oh - and voltages - korea is 220volts... bear that in mind. a simple adptor may not be enough.
i am back in australia now. i bought quite a few korean appliances. voltage is the same but plugs are different. i wish i had brought a korean power board with me. fortunately adaptors are very cheap here - less than a dollar. |

I had more for just myself. But don't worry, Koreans will think you're crazy anyways, for a myriad of reasons you'll only ever half understand.
But deodorant? There are places that sell them in Seoul, Busan, Geoje that I know of, places that always stock them. Some expats may not find them in their working neighbourhood, but there's no need to cart over a lot of deodorant. Simply make a special trip on the weekend to somewhere that carries it, combine shopping and sightseeing in your weekend travel plans, assuming you won't hole up in one city all year long. But if you've bought the deodorant already and don't mind have something else to fill the space, go for it.
But don't worry what people will think. Worry about how much you can carry! |

It got worse and worse over the years. At this point, I'd have to rent my own airplane.
I regret only the over-counter medicines. I always bought and brought so much that I was then afraid to use for fear of running out, and yep, you guessed it, always had to throw it out because it expired. 
Other than that, I always wish I could have brought more...every time. But a person can navigate through airports with only so many giant overstuffed bags before she throws herself across them to have a quiet little sob. |
Wow, I could have written this post!! I also brought 3 full suitcases, and I can't imagine what I'm going to have to get rid of before I ever go home. Not to mention, I'm going to have to lug a 15 pound cat and 55 pound dog along with me.  |
