Hi guys,

I arrive in England to a lousy phone interview! Oh well at least its a job offer.

I'm looking for work in Jeju and this company offered me a teaching position. The school is quite new apparently, but it doesnt bode well that their first foriegn teacher is leaving after only 6 months.

Its called the ESLR Institute in Jeju city, anyone heard anything about it?

The girls main complaint is the long hours, 30 teaching hours a week and they're full hours, either 2 30min blocks or 1 hour blocks. I thought that was a pretty standard contract but I'm totally ignorant in terms of Haggies.

Thoughts on the school are most welcome. I'm guessing that the guy giving her a letter of release after only 6 weeks worked is a good sign he's on the up and up.

I don't know about that particular school, so I can't help you out with that one -- but if you do come to Jeju, let me know -- I've been here 2 weeks and I've yet to see another expat -- we could check out the bars together or something Idea

yeah, 30 teaching hours is about what I do too. But I don't feel stressed at all (other than the language barrier) -- although, I don't start work until 2 in the afternoon Very Happy

Long hours is right... 1800 contact minutes (plus related duties like prep, evaluations, reports, etc) as compared to the usual 1500 contact minutes per week.

20% more work.... does it come with 20% more pay?

Not being critical... just asking...

Normal is about 30 x 50 minute classes per week and 2.0-2.1 per month + the usual benefits. She is working 30x60 minutes??? Long year ahead.
