Does anyone know the laws about drug testing? I've read on EFL Law that a warrant is necessary. Any thoughts or knowledge is appreciated. cheers

My Canadian friend Paul was hauled in by the pigs, beaten, had his blood drawn, and was electrocuted with a cattle prod until he signed a confession to have been buying hash from a guy named Ali or Allen as the gang called him.

He was then sent to foreigners prison for approx 3 months before he was deported.

Btw, they released him three days before his flight, so he went and dug up the hash he had stashed and smoked out those last few days. Razz

Sounds interesting. The thing is I've been fired. I found out that it was illegal if the boss takes my flight because she fired me. I told her this and now she's talking drug test. Out of nowhere. Perhaps conjecture from rumor but that is it. Nothing substantial. If anyone has any idea where I can find out my rights, that would be awesome. Cheers.

If you havent been taking drugs then just submit to the test, and get your flight out. It's a fair bit of money to lose, so just eat it up I would say.

I'm not worried about pissing. But a hair test on the other hand...see what I mean. And it's not the outgoing flight. She is deducting the amount she paid to get me here.

Well how long in your contract were you when she fired you?

More to the point what does your contract say about termination of employment and flight costs?

As for the drug test, it seems weird and what is this thing about a hair test???

I've heard that evidence of snow can be found in the hair samples of former users forever. This might be what the OP is referring to. If it is, I do believe that a standard hair sample test can only detect white if it has been used within the last 90 days, but it is possible to test the longer parts of the hair for older drug usage.

Testing urine is one thing, but I understand that testing a hair sample for something that minute is very expensive, prohibitively so for a hagwon owner just looking to get out of paying airfare.

I've heard of that hair test before. Some of my friends were arrested for streaking on TV and they had three consecutive drug tests, all negative, but everyone kept insisting "They must have been on drugs! Keep looking!"

Why don't you just get your hair cut?

shave your head. get your body waxed.

Seriously, don't submit to any test without consulting a lawyer. And certainly don't consent to one of her tests.

Question: What do I do if the Police Request a DNA or Urine Sample?
Unless you were actually caught in the act of using/supplying drugs, you can refuse to give urine and a DNA sample. The police officer making such a request to go to the police station must provide a proper ID and the Division and his Name and the reason for making such request and where he or she wants you to go.

Even if you comply and go to the police station, to test your urine and blood test, the police needs to get a warrant. Until such a warrant is obtained, you can refuse to take the test. During this time, you should advise your lawyer of your situation and ask him to attend at the Police Station.

Yeah, that'll fool 'em... a piece of walking ivory doesn't tell me anything either.
