CLG, if you do cut off your hair, you might look into donating it to an organization that makes wigs for children with medical hair loss (e.g., cancer treatments). I did that a few years ago--cut my long hair really short and donated it--and never regretted it. I'm growing it out to do the same again.

The organization I've donated hair to in the US is "Locks of Love" http://www.locksoflove.org/
They accept all hair colors and types, as long as it isn't damaged or bleached (dyed is okay). They have information about making donations on the website.

Just a thought!

At the moment I've decided that Korea probably isn't the best place to get something radical done as I've survived way too many hair disasters here which at could be cut out if I needed it.

I thought about donating it, but the blonde highlights mean it's been bleached. And my hair is so baby fine I doubt they'd be able to get much use out of it (I have the saddest looking pony tails and buns ever).

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'd ever go above chin-length again (although my hair always looks terrible once it reaches a certain length and needs to be chopped off every once in a while). The last time I did, it was quite a disaster and I had to hide it under hats most of the time. But for highlights or anything fancy, I third the Aveda recommendation. I had better luck at the Express Bus Terminal location than at the one in Sinchon -- but a Korean speaker would probably have no problem at either salon.

The number of guys who will find you attractive (all other factors aside) will increase in proportion (to a point) with your hair length.

Yep, don't doubt it. Honesty appreciated. Wink But given that it takes years (I kid you not) to grow out and I can't seem to get a decent looking cut...it's likely to stay pretty short. Although, if extensions aren't too expensive to maintain there (way too expensive in the US on my cough*salary*cough) I may end up with long hair. Anybody know how much?

hey

why don't you just cut it gradually instead of cutting it all off at once
try shoulder length or just above first
cause it is still long enough to do the pony tail but then short enough to style in a cute way

i can never go shorter than shoulder length as i miss my hair even though it can be a real pain (i know what you mean by having really fine hair...but i think mine is a bit more adaptable to layers etc than yours)

good luck with that once it can be a tough call

:O)

This is one man who thinks a woman can look very hot with short hair. Of course I'm as gay as a $3 bill... Wink

Hmm? Well according to some men you should keep your hair long so that you can attract men.

At risk of sounding like a feminazi ....who gives one good *** damn if a man like long hair. I had long hair for years. Thick, a bit wavy and hated it! Every last freaking strand. I had to spend so much time shampooing drying conditioning. It is very thick (I am glad) and unruly.

In hot weather I sweat I don't glow and have pretty sheen I sweat like a fat man in summer in wool sweater. Long hair was a pain. Pony tails gave me a headache after too long.

Spending hundreds of dollar for something that is essentially dead, annoying, and makes me sweat all the more ....no thanks I will pass.

Much to the dismay of Mom and Pop the minute I left for uni I cut the hair...wooo hooo. Sometimes I would like it long but then summer hits and I realize long hair sucks for me.

I WOULD NEVER BASE ANY DECISION ON WHETHER IT MAKES ME ATTRACTIVE TO MEN.

So if you aren't ready to cut your hair don't do it. But do it for yourself not because you think some guy is going to go all swoony over your hair.

And BTW I have never had any problem attracting men before and after I got married. Everyone always says how "cute" I look with short hair. Gives me youthful, playful look and sometimes long hair just drags your face down. Strangely I look taller with shorter hair as one can see my neck. Which thankfully is a bit long too.

So do it for yourself. Do what makes you feel good about yourself.

I'm totally with Jade here -- but that said, I prefer the long look for myself and wish I could grow it really long without getting sick and tired of it because of all the split ends, fuzziness, color damage (or mousiness if I don't get it highlighted), etc. Oh well.

I've regretted it every time I've cut my hair. Now I wear it at varying lengths between my shoulder blades and my waist. It's much more versatile, and when you want it "short" you can wear it up, then when you want it "long" again you just take it down. Simple. Long hair being more difficult to care for is a myth for some people - my hair takes much more time, energy, and products when it's short. I like it long and keep it that way.

I've often regretted short cuts too, and I've never had any luck with products. The last time I had my hair cut to shoulder length -- I think the hairdresser must have taken off quite a few inches -- I really had no choice because it was so tangly and unmanageable. Once the driest and most damaged parts came off, it was a lot easier to take care of.

In case my last post was unclear, here's the quote from Jade that I completely agree with:

Quote:
I WOULD NEVER BASE ANY DECISION ON WHETHER IT MAKES ME ATTRACTIVE TO MEN.

Wise words.

Lots of chicks who have short hair look really hot. Some probably look better with short hair. One I went out with had hair about 4" long and when she showed me some photos of her with long hair I thought she looked really dorky (but she was also a lot fatter then).

On K-girls, though, I have to say that short hair - on the few I've seen with it - really dosn't look as good.

Unbelieveable! A thread that has gone to 2 pages without being taken over by the "rude squad".

I've done the longer, shorter thing too. Usually shorter cause i have fine hair too although with the humidity here I look like Shirley Temple.

Agree with everyone that says "long enough to put it up off your neck but not longer than shoulder length." My hair looks kinda like spider webs if it gets any longer than that.

Yeah, and the do it for yourself thing is one of the truest things in life. Only you have to face yourself in the mirror evey morning.
