I guess the title says it all really ....
Why do you post on eslcafe ?
Do you post on other esl forums ?
Do you post on other non-esl forums ?
What makes a good forum in your opinion ... ?
I guess I post on daves because it was the first one that I joined, and I try not to spend too much time on forums anyway. So I don't bother posting on any other ones usually. I rarely post on other non-esl forums, sometimes tech or computer ones ...
The best thing about daves is that occasionally you come across some useful information. And it's cool to interact with people just like me... |

This site seems pretty all-inclusive. Other sites tend to be a bit cliquey. I like Dave's because it's entertaining, pure and simple! Yeah, good source of info, too. Also, nice to share experiences with those who can relate. |

I have a few forums I visit daily. My job puts me in front of a computer from 10 to 7 so I have a lot of time to kill.
Plus there is always a lot to discuss with other people living in a similar situation with myself. |

Why? Exchange information.
Other ESL forums? yes, but they've always been nuked.
Non-ESL forums? Yes.. Hawaii one, Cebu one, and a Southeast Asian one. |

to be one of the people who are somewhere between "gawd i hate this place and korea is the worst country in the world" and "gee, i hate my home. Korea is bliss. Anyone who has problems here is a complete moron with no education. "
to vent
and mostly, since i broke up with my gf my life is empty, void of all meaning and sometimes i just find it hard to get up in the morning. (no. not really) |

The internet has, since I began using it (which was 2000 - quite late), been my television. Some people sit at home and watch TV for hours - they might even watch something they're only 25% interested in. Well the net - of which message boards are a small part - is my equivalent of that. I didn't watch a great deal of TV back home and I watch even less here. So my "do nothing at all time" is often spent online.

Very relevant to my life. I live and work in Korea as an English teacher, so.....
Also, downtimes at work would be unbearably boring without Dave's.

I used to post on the international Daves, but hardly ever now. It's boring and less relevant to my life. So no, basically.

Not really. Not any more. Met a lot of friends from the net over the years, but living in Korea means I've lost touch. |

I started reading the posts on Englishspectrum cuz I couldn't get an ID here for a while. Maaaaaan.... it ain't even worth it posting there! Those are a bunch of the most retarded rejects to ever grace this planet.
At least people here have some good things to say usually. Dave's is a glass of ice water in a desert.... or somethin' like that. |

I read on Dave's a lot more than I post on Dave's.
I post if I have some information to give, and occasionally to call someone on their stupidity. (and yes, I've been called on mine as well.)
I do not feel the need to post on every d*mn thread I read, like some people here. |

(numbers are mine)
1. To give people the benefit of communication with a superior being. Actually to kill time.
2. No
3. Yes
4. Dave's got most of it right. |

I started posting here because it was the only forum I knew about, and I wanted information. Eventually, I got sucked in to the community aspect latent in most every message board.
When I learned about other boards, I checked them out, but I like the simple format of Dave's. Basic, easy to read, not garish. Plus, there's not much need to use more than one board. We all know the topics are cyclical, so why would I want to read the same *beep* on three different places? |
