A few years back I was returning with the return portion of my ticket (Northwest) and therefore didn't have a return ticket back to Canada. I mistakenly thought since I had a 'valid' f2 visa that it would give me freedom to come and go as I pleased. When we got to the ticket counter the lady looked for my visa stamp. I explained to her that I had the f2 visa and my arc and that was good enough. She didn't know/care either way so she let me go. When I got to Incheon they took my arc because I hadn't gotten a re-entry visa (or whatever). I still don't get that one. Man was I pissed when they did that! 
I really can't see them actually refusing you entry because you don't have a return ticket. I wonder if there is ANYONE that has had that happen to them. I doubt it. Not unless they looked like shit, were stoned, hammered, beligerent or all of the above.
When I returned a few weeks ago (to visit) they stamped my passport and scribbled a little 06m in the stamp. I'm assuming that means 6 months, but the scribble's not all that clear. I wonder if they can even read some of their scribbles on the back of the arcs or in the passports. They must have all been trained as doctors. Maybe not. |

Someone somewhere on some forum wrote about getting a Korrail-Japan Rail pass or just a Beetle ticket to Fukuoka in lieu of a return flight ticket. I can't remember where the post was. Has anyone here actually gone about things that way? Can you book Beetle tickets from outside Korea?
I've heard about many who come in on a one-way ticket, but it's always best to err on the side of caution. Immigration is fickle. |

Many people have been able to get here on a one way or without onward passage...(myself included) but about 1/2 the time (I've watched it happen more than once) someone at an airline check-in counter gets their panties in a twist and you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle.
If you have an E-ticket or forward itinerary on some carrier out of the country then you have satisfied the requirement. Easiest way is still to either get an open return ticket or purchase 2 tickets... one way here as cheap as possible and one way home (unrestricted and refundable).
Simply return for refund and cash in the homeward bound ticket. You have still complied with the rules. If you put it on your credit card then you typically get your reimbursement/credit within 2 or 3 working days.
Cash bought tickets can take up to one month to receive your refund. |
