Hello everyone,

I hope I've got the right topic here, but could anyone help me with these questions to clarify one or two doubts in my mind. I'd really appreciate it. And apologies if I've missed the answers while combing the site...

- Sealed transcripts: (I am coming from the UK and have a 4 yr BA) - Are these still necessary?

And if so, what exactly happens to them? - Am I right in thinking that these still need to be shown to immigration upon arrival? And if immigration needs to see them, then they won't remain sealed for very long - or do these only have to be seen once when some kind of record is made, for instance?

Also I have official transcripts (i.e. watermarked) but they're not sealed...will these do?

- Notarised degrees - are these still accepted? Anyone done this recently in the UK?

Also, does anybody in a job over there right now want to recommend their school to me? Very Happy Please PM me if you want...I'd like to do martial arts classes in the evening so I'd like a 9-5er and no dribbling kiddies pls Very Happy Location's pretty flexible right now. I'm 28, responsible and travelled...

Thanks for any help eh!?

Ben.

Can't help with your ALL questions about the documents.. no experience dealing with most UK stuff.... however...

Sealed transcripts are still a requirement. They will be checked at the immigration office when your school applies for your visa confirmation number. This happens BEFORE you get your visa and arrive here. You don't need them at passport control when you enter. You should bring a couple extra sets with you when you come. If you change jobs or renew you will need them AGAIN (each and every time).

Immigration still accepts KOREAN EMBASSY certified copies of your degree. This happens at the SAME time they check your transcript and issue your visa confirmation number. Call your local Korean Embassy for specifics in your country.

AND 9-5 and no kids??? you are dreaming, right?

9-5 means either kindergarten or public school and this is the wrong season for public schools...

Summer holidays start in 6 weeks..
The new term starts in Sept. for highschool or middle school... hiring is usually in July and August.

If you were talking 3-9pm... then lots of Elementary/middle school hakwons... pick 10 and check the references very, very well...

Alrighty, thanks for the advice. Sooo... Idea ... I just have to send the sealed transcripts and notarized degree to my yet to be found employer...ok...

And yeah I realise that I'll have to prioritise my desired working conditions...with any luck I'll be able to set up a public school position somewhere...

Would anyone happen to know whether some martial arts schools (hapkido Question ) hold classes in the morning...? That'd be ok...I'm sure in Seoul one can find pretty much whatever one wants...

Thanks again...
