My choice is Depeche Mode - Playing The Angel.
Their new album sounds very similar to their early 90's stuff (which looked like the peak of their career). If you miss that late 80's early 90's sound, get this cd. |

I don't have one either. Just don't like the fact that the technology assumes that I am going to get tired of whatever I am listening to and erase it. I like cds. There's nothing wrong with the cd format. It's small enough. No one needs an audio player the size of a small carrot. |

Didn't even know about it. Thanks. Will find some stuff from it right now (for free), which sums up my views on CDs. I used to buy CDs religiously, but I wish I discovered MP3 earlier because I'd have saved myself a fortune.
I like free. It's bad that artists don't receive payment for my copious music consumption, but that's not a deterrant to me. I'm materialistic and egotistical almost to the point of mental illness. As long as I'm alright, Jack......
Depeche Mode's 'Exciter' album (of 2001?) was outstanding also. |

This album is growing on me-Mark Knopfler and Emmy Lou Harris-All the Roadrunning:
Review From Amazon where it is #3 on their sales chart:
"Over the last seven years, Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris quietly recorded an album by stealing "a few precious hours of studio time here and there," as the ex-Dire Straits singer/guitarist puts it.
Mark Knopfler gets a bit more rootsy with each new CD. In this one he has added a fiddle and mandolin and some of the songs have an "old-timey" Appalachian flavor to them. Emmylou Harris's folksy soprano is perfect for the music. One wishes Knopfler would have taken the next step, added a banjo, and tried a couple of bluegrass numbers. Oh, well. Next album.
The rootsy atmosphere doesn't extend to Knopfler's electric guitar -- the highlight of the CD -- as his coloratura picking weaves in and out of the lyrics, unmistakenly Knopler with not a single note too many nor too few. "This is Us" is the single from the CD and it's probably the most rocking number. There are others I liked more: "I Dug up a Diamond" is beautiful with a great mandolin in addition to Knopfler's guitar. "Donkey Town" is one of the semi-strange Knopfler songs that sometimes work. Of special note is "If This is Goodbye," about the fall of Flight 93 on 9/11. It's lovely, sad and touching -- a virtual showcase for Emmylou's voice and Knopfler's guitar. There's not a clunker on the whole CD.
Harris is the perfect duet partner for about any male singer whose vocal range is from A to B. That's Knopfler -- whose gruff mumble still manages to be appealing. This is a CD full of classy, quality listening music that falls somewhere between the genres of Rock, Folk, and Country"

I'm digging the new Live album, and the new Tool album. Of course, the new Flaming Lips album is excellent!

After years of downlloading I've gone back to buying a lot of my music again. I average a new album a week.
Today I just picked up Gnarls Barkley and Neutral Milk Hotel thanks to recommendations found in
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=57120
and am very pleased with both. |

I spent my last 20 bucks in sydney australia on a cd made by a guy who mixes the didgeredoo with electronic music tracks he has created. i saw him busking downtown and watched him for a good half hour so it was the least i could do really. |
