|
|
Hey - just caught this one this morning, in the Times -
The article was moderately ho-hum - mostly about travel advice/deals that seem common to Koreans, but we never see (ahh, the special 'foreigner-only discounted secret rate' . . .)
BUT!
Found this attached to the end -
Singular Experiences
There is a special, but limited, item called a ``Travel Voucher.''
It is a limited in the sense that you have to travel within Korea.
If you are employed and have worked for over three months and make an average monthly salary of 2.5 million won, you are eligible for this program.
The South Korean government, to promote the welfare of workers, national tourism and provincial development, the government subsidizes 40 percent, within 150,000 won, of travel costs except for luxury travel such as golf trips, overseas travel, and only usage of transportation and facilities.
Foreign workers are eligible to apply for this program. You can apply through www. voucher.koreatravel.or.kr or for more information, call (02) 757-7488.
full article can be found here -

Hope this helps someone - maybe can be used to dovetail things for some of the Festivals, and get you there at a REAL discount, or give you a better room, or extra splurging money - about to check it out myself.
Regards,
G. |

hey man, couldnt seem to get that link working, but my girlie says that u usually have to purchase some form of package, and need pictures to prove that you actually went there?! seems strange, but...
also, pay in advance, and reimbursed later.
let me know what you learn! would be great, like u said, for festivals! and don't forget drunken runs to Busan for long weekends ;) KTX can get messy! |
