Well done, Jeff Myers.

If he really did do it, then the other teacher should be held accountable for submitting a false statement.

I remember in high school a couple girls accused the VP of sexual asault in his office. They later admitted they wanted to get out of detension. Of course the taint probably never went away.

It's possible the girls simply view this as an easy way out of a hagwon they don't want to be attending. It's also possible given the quality of human they put in classrooms that they're entirely correct. The latter case would be less surprising.

I recall something like the Martensville nightmare... a Saskatchewan town where the cops thought there was a coven of Satanists ritually abusing children.. all because one child had a rash on her bum. Reading up on a case like this you can see how authorities apply pressure to get the kids to cough up the testimony they want them to cough up. "You can go watch cartoons if you just tell us what really happened". So the kid keeps offering what he thinks the cops want. Once the cops get the words they want, the kid gets to go watch cartoons. Of course they discard all the testimony from the kid that makes zero sense, like being kept in bird cages clearly too small for them to be kept in.

My wife just asked me if I'd heard about it, to which I replied yes because I saw this thread this morning. She thinks even though it's a "ethnic Korean" there will still be some trouble for us. I honestly hope I'm wrong, but I would say wait a few days and see if it blows over.

Hopefully this doesn't get blown out of proportion to the point you have people saying all native speakers are evil like in the past.
