Qinella, do you have a system of warnings you give out before the final expulsion? We have seen improvement from some kids by giving warnings to the mothers.

As far as I know, there's no standard system of warnings. He comes down really hard on kids when they're late or don't do their homework, so they know for sure when they've done wrong. Also, I think he does call parents, and definitely has conversations with the students about their performance (usually in private, though). But a set system? I don't think so.

He's probably built a reputation for himself as being very demanding of the kids. Can't allow 4 slackers to ruin that for him.

Where do you work?

I am currently living in Korea and looking for a job...

It's a really small place, actually, but he did mention that he is thinking about expanding and hiring an extra foreign and Korean teacher. I'll let you know if that happens.

Yep. The moms inevitably call up, begging to get their students back in, when they see the other hagwons. Actually, three of the kids he kicked out were repeat offenders--this was their second chance.

That is just awesome to hear. If I were applying for a hogwan job one of my first questions would be 'how many students have you expelled?'.

Despite all the money issues with my director, her one great saving grace is that she is serious about education. The first time I told another student to find another hakwon (fit of anger), I was sure I was in deep poop. When I explained that that boy had forced three girls to quit because of the nasty crap he pulled with them, she supported me when his mother called. I can deal with 99% of student idiocy, but for that 1%, she has been pretty good. I think the trick it to be able to explain how that one student is hurting the class, and in the end, her business (though not so bluntly)...
