Two thoughts:

1) how do you just lose a laptop?

2) what an honest poster!

I don't know much about it, but I do understand how it was lost based upon how it was described to me...sort of...also, the person who lost it is a way-gook. Also, don't really know how honest I am...honestly, don't need another laptop. I'm doing this for a Korean fellow who was given it by another Korean. I told him I'd try, so I am. I think it may've been a case of, "Oh, there's a foreigner! He must know all foreigners who own/lose laptops in Korea! I'll ask him!"

Anyone have a time, place, and description? That's all I need. Later, I'll probably tell the guy to turn it into the nearest police station or keep it himself.

Is there no personal info on the laptop which could tell you whom it belongs to?

Yeah, that may be a step I take before telling the guy to turn it over to the cops. I did ask the guy if it was p/w protected, and he said it wasn't. At the time, I didn't feel like searching through someone else's stuff though.

I'm sure if it helped you return it to him/her, he/she wouldn't mind you cruising through some personal info. Lords knows I wouldn't.

Did you happen to find it in a public area?

Usually Koreans backtrack where they leave things and ask the personnel at that location if they've seen it.

You might wanna take it back unless it was found in a wide open space.

He didn't find it. It was passed on to him by some Koreans who thought he might have a better chance of tracking down a foriegn owner than they would.

This kind of reminds me for some reason of how many times I've found cell phones in washrooms in Korea.

Yea, well, if I explain myself even further, if it was found in a public building, then take it back and give it to someone in charge, i.e. subway station office, store manager, etc.

I told the guy to bring it to the nearest cop shop, but he said that he'll hold onto it for a couple of more days.
