I have Asperger's Syndrome, so yeah, my whole life is full of these stupid little quirks...

I'm essentially but not really a vegetarian, because I can't eat meat with any gristle or fat in it. If I do then I start to gag. I always wear two necklaces, not one, not three, definitely never zero. I like bracelets but each bracelet I own belongs to a specific arm; I very rarely wear a right arm bracelet on my left arm. I always hang my toilet paper such that I'm pulling it from on top and not from underneath. I hate visiting the same store twice in the same day. I will travel all the way across the city to a Wal-Mart where I can pick things off the shelves instead of having to ask a salesperson for them, and I absolutely never shop at one of those department stores where people follow me around all the time.

I have specific goodbye routines for the people I talk to the most on MSN, and it disturbs me if they break routine. Also, when I'm online, I have four or five windows open with the pages I like to look at often, and then another page or two for whatever randomness I'm also viewing at the time.

I could go on, but I suspect nobody's still reading by this point...

Do you know that you have Asperger's Syndrome i.e been diagnosed or do you just think you do? I'm curious about the compulsion.
Myself, I often find that I check and recheck many times anything that uses high heat like an iron or stove. Also anything to do with doors; I'll check and recheck to make sure they're closed. I've literally been almost to a place and then turned around and gone back knowing full well that what I'm afraid's on is not or what I'm afraids open is not. Like I said I'll check it before I leave but then I think about it on the way to a place or when I'm there and BAM! I gotta go back to make sure 1 more time!!!
EGAD!!!

Classic mild O/C.

Oh, btw, I don't have any quirks. None. I am not O/C, I'm forgetful. I do not have Tourrette's (really), just grew up with 8 brothers. I don't NEEd to drink coffee, dammit... ... I am not addicted to Dave's... ... I do not always think I'm right... I *am* always right. And I never torture gopher. Ever.

Lizara - when were you diagnosed with Asperger's? I've always found Asperger's fascinating because Aspies have so much in common with INTPs. Are you an ESL teacher? How does that work, being an Aspie and a teacher?

I haven't ever lost my passport/tickets (or had my house/apt burgled) before, surprising, so i don't no where this behaviour has come from. It's been getting worse and worse as well which is a little disturbing.

That quirky enough for you!!

I understand that. Once, when getting off a plane in Malaysia, we were asked to show our boarding passes (I mean literally when we stepped off the plane, before we could enter the terminal). I panicked so much I actually convinced myself I had lost it, and did not find it until many hours later. I have a real fear of losing my important documents (and money and credit cards) when I travel, and I check them non-stop.

I'm always convinced I've left something on - like a cooker, an iron, the hot water, or left a tap running with the plug in. When leaving the house, I'll check everything, but a quick look won't do. Must look at it for at least 5 seconds to make sure they're all off. I might even go back in (after leaving) to double check. And I've never, ever left anything on in the past - never. I don't know where it comes from.

I have to set three or four different alarms at ten minute intervals to wake me up, I have major problems getting up in the morning and even when I'm wide awake it still takes me about an hour to convince myself to get out of my bed. Also regardless of what time I have to be at work, even if I have the whole morning off I won't do anything before work because I'm terrified that I'll be late or that something will happen to prevent me getting there on time.

In my place I don't kill any bugs, even catch mosquitoes and throw them outside, let moths and small spiders go about their business. That's been called "quirky".

I've been known to suddenly stop walking and stare up at clouds for several minutes at a time. "What are you looking at?" I'm asked. "The clouds," I say. "Weird," I've heard said.

I whistle talk with birds.

Koreans must think a thousand little things I do is quirky if not downright strange.

I am NOT a morning person, and while I can usually control O/C impulses, first thing in the morning I cannot. Which means that before going to work in the morning (i.e., while already running late) I have to do things like sort all my socks, or look over ten-years-old photo albums, or find just the right Bible verse. (Mind you, I am not going to need socks, photos, or Bible verses for the upcoming day.)

I was diagnosed a few years ago, and for the record, I *hate* the term "aspie". Yeah, I'm a teacher, and it actually works okay most of the time because my problem is not knowing how to talk to/respond to people or how to read social situations, but when I'm teaching I'm the one who's setting up the situation and it's all fairly structured and I know what I'm supposed to do/say next. The only time it becomes troublesome is with some discipline issues where I'm not really sure how to respond appropriately.

Same here. I lost my phone one time on the subway in Seoul and because of that, I'm always checking my pockets for my phone. Also because I've lost my keys and or my wallet many times in the past, I have a chain wallet that connects to my keys. Despite the ex-gf's pleas I wore it even with my suit.

I understand that perfectly. Apologies for "Aspie," I thought it was an okay term.
