Hi there,

I don't know about that school but the usual warning to newbies re: TALK to the current teachers about the school and ask SPECIFIC questions in regards to the issues that are usually the most contensious: Pay, deductions, OVERTIME, pensions, MEDICAL with the NHIC booklet, housing and anything else that may be important to you like scheduling or class structure, number of classes etc.

I used Stephen Cho when I first came to Korea many years ago. He was OK as far as a recruiter went. Remember he is just a recruiter and not your baby sitter. The usual caveats about recruiters in general apply.

He picked me up at the airport, took me to my new house, introduced me to my boss and bought me dinner on my first night in Korea. That was all very kind and about the limit of what he can or will do for you after he lands your job.

Thank you for the feedback, Tom . I appreciate it . The said school's contract is fine up to a point ... that being they fail to list the EXACT time frame/schedule i would in fact be working . The amount of classes are stated, as are the lengths of each class required per month (120 50 min classes per month) . It doesn't state WHEN the classes commence or conclude ... I personally don't like that one bit. It's a kiddie hogwan , thus the hours will be in the mid afternoon to the evening . Just when they begin and end is in question. The rest of the contract reads well . Just this issue . Thanks again .

Like I have said and repeated many times.. it is more the case of what actually happens than what is in your contract. A good contract is worthless if the boss won't follow it. A poorly worded contract can also mean nothing with a decent and dependable boss. The contract is only 1/2 the battle.

TALK TO THE CURRENT teachers and find out what it is really like there NOW. Not what someone thought from working there 2 years ago. Directors, managers and owners come and go just about as fast as teachers in this business. TALK TO THE CURRENT TEACHERS <-note the PLURAL here.
