| i got fired yesterday (friday), and i'm supposed to go pick up my f-4 visa from immigration on monday. from what i understand, the f-4 is unconnected to my work status. however, the manager is sending one of her secretaries to meet with me at immigration to take the residence card? back. what is the deal with this? does my company have any legal right to my residence card? what are the repercussions for me? i will probably have a new job and residence by the end of this week. do i have to go to immigration again? can someone help me out with this? |

| I don't know all the details and can't really advise you on your specific problem, but I'm 99% sure that they have no right to your F-4 visa. |

If you have an F4, they (your employer(s)) are NOT connected to your status in KOREA and have NO reason to get your card or your passport.
If they think you have some other visa (D or E class employment/work visa) then they would have to cancel your visa but still not take your ARC.
Your ARC is the equivalent of your KOREAN NATIONAL ID card. Just tell them (your ex-employer) to piss off. You need it to do anything/everything including leave the country when the time comes. DO NOT surrender it to them.
If you are talking about the actual F4 in your passport, then they have NO legal status to request it. If they help themselves to you passport file a complaint of "stolen passport" with the police and then report it to the embassy. They will be VERY GOOD about taking care of a stolen passport for you. |

You and immigration.
Even if you had an E-2, it's the property of immigration, not your boss. Tell them to kiss your a$$. |
