You forgot the "ged", but I'm curious: what did you use -- roofies? Xanax?

Xanax back in the day when I lived in Alabama, but they were for me the monkeybear got absoltamente nada.

Larry is a cute widdle feller!

it's pretty common to yawn when nervous. i do that before big presentations, etc

my big quirk is that i unconsciously smell my stick of deodorant before i put in on. dunno why.

Dunno. Could be a kink.

I peel orange segments. Yes, each individual segment. Yes, the semitransparent dermis that interupts the process of sinking one's teeth into the citric juices and causes one to gag when any attempt to ... It takes a long time to eat a whole orange. Less so with kyool. But the mess I make of a Peach is just sick.

I've given up trying to identify my quirks. I just don't think I have any. If they're there, I can't see them. But I sure do see them in others, and mostly in Westerners, not Asians I've known.

Girl S (Western):

-- Utter mortification at the thought of pens being left uncapped, even for a very short while

Felt-tipped pens, especially. And not just her pens, but anyone's. She said she saw them as animate objects, like fish out of water. We took two design & draughting courses together, and we'd work beside each other. I tell you it was all she could do to stop herself from running over and recapping other students' pens. It got very bad, she was always distracted, and she nearly couldn't work in the studio with other students because of that. We'd walk in and every time I could see her eyes scanning the place for uncapped pens. Sad She had a fit once while we were out having dinner: I said jokingly that I thought, but was not sure, that I may have left a few pens of mine uncapped at home. It was excruciating for her and I was evil to do it. Bad me. Razz

Girl W (Western):

-- Inveterate packrat of the most useless junk and world-class awful housekeeper

Women are typically tidier than men, and architects are typically anal about everything being in its proper place. This girl was a walking contradiction in terms. Newspapers going back over a year lay unread in stacks, she'd refused to throw them out. What else... Oh yes, clothes she'd outgrown, she kept forever for sentimental reasons. She was always buying ultra-cool, edgy designer knick-knacks, cooking utensils, whatever, so her place had this Bleeding-Edge New/Antiquey Old look, in addition to being a sty.

In the public eye she was a fashion plate. Beautiful, intelligent, charming, and dripping with talent. But you do NOT want to peek behind that curtain. Where to sit? Where to stand? Always a problem. Piles of clutter on every surface. Her bedroom. How many pillows does a girl need? She cornered the market, and none of them matched.

When one imagines the perfect romantic interlude, one envisions simple uncluttered surfaces and surroundings, diffused sunlight or candlelight, fleshtones against plain white or natural coloured linen, no visual distractions from the object of one's carnal desire. That's what advertising and media tell us, anyway. So then, sex in this girl's messy bedroom might've been a turnoff, yet it wasn't. That's not shocking at all really; guys are nearly always up for it. But to my surprise, I found that being surrounded by all that clutter and squalour a very heavy, heady turn-on. Sex in a junkyard, sex in a seedy hotel room on the wrong side of town, I seemed suddenly raunchy and depraved, she seemed suddenly sleezy and trampish. It was exhilarating. Again and again.

Okay, rewind the tape. I think I found my quirk. Embarassed

And now I'm off to attend at friend's wedding. Confused

The only urge I feel is to put it under a very heavy rock.

Dill pickles in, on or beside (almost) anything cannot be considered a quirk.
Sweet pickles with pizza, now that's the definition of a sick perversion.

What constitutes a quirk?

Should mental or physical conditions over which people have no control -- weird twitching, bizarre phobias, mysterious ailments of the brain, all these funky diagnosed abbreviated conditions, etc. -- should these be considered quirks? I don't think they ought to be, or at least there should be classifications of quirks. It just doesn't seem accurate to lump together the aforementioned with people who have essentially voluntary/harmless habits or behaviours, like carrying a stuffed animal from country to country, or collecting hammers, or liking strange food combinations.

I want more clearly defined borders here: People with quaint eccentricities on my side, freaks on the other.
Then we rumble.
