I am putting together my Visa application and will be moving to Inchon in late July and had a couple of questions, and help or suggestions would be great thanks.

- Is Kids Club in Inchon a good starting point for teaching in Korea?

-Is there any reasons why i should not trust EA & Partners as a recruiting agency?

- Is there any way of getting around sending my actual diploma in the Visa package?

Thank you so much for you help, and let me know any other general information that may be helpful.[/quote]

I have never heard of the recruiter and have heard only some things about that particular chain.

I believe that you'll have to submit your diploma, but it depends on where your getting your visa. If you are getting it in Japan, you may have to mail it to the recruiter and then they take the origonal to the Korean consulate and mail it back to you with a ticket. This is what I did.

By no means mail it to Korea. Tell them you will bring it with you and make sure you get it back. Anything you give them (I guess loan would be more appropriate) make sure you get it back. Don't let them screw around with you on that. There have been stories about schools holding on to your passport and crap like that.

Finally, I would make sure you do lots of research before you sign the contract. If necessary get an electronic copy and post it on here. Usually others will chime in and try to give you some advice.

Just be very careful!

The Kids Club Chain has a less than stellar reputation.

Check with the current teachers about conditions at that particular academy. Talk to MORE THAN ONE teacher. Get their e-mails so you can talk to them when the boss isn't looking over their shoulder.

ASK specific questions about NHIC medical, Pension, OVERTIME and creative book-keeping to avoid paying overtime.
Ask about the number of classes per day, per week and per month.
Ask about class time length and calculation of teaching hours.
ASK about required time in the school (unpaid management/prep time).
ASK about holidays - when and how long each break.
ASK about housing - size and condition.

If you don't ask, then be prepared for a long and ugly year.

You can avoid sending your original diploma by getting certified copies made at your nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate. The fee is usually about USD$3.00 per copy. Get a few (maybe 10) made because you will need one every time you apply for a new visa.

I have never heard of EA & Partners as a recruiting firm. Are they in Korea? If they are not, then you can expect absolutely nothing from them (not even a ride from the airport) after you arrive here.

Do not send your original diploma to Korea. You can still use certified photocopies.
