|
|
Now is the time to rise up in the face of the blatant lies and shameless anti-foreigner agenda of the Korean Teacher's Union. Please take just a few minutes to flood the following Gyonggi KTU message board with your messages of indignation over the recent misreporting of the sexual abuse cases in the English Villages: http://chamkk.eduhope.net/bbs/list.php?board=chamkk-j2 Copy and paste this into your browser, and spam their board with strong calls for an apology. Whether the tactic works or not is not the point. Just don't sit back and allow them to think they're getting away with something. I'm sick of it, and you should be too.
Update on the message I sent to the Canadian who works (now worked) for the KTU. He met with the Gyonggi KTU officials yesterday, and they refused to apologize or back down, so he quit. His message is as follows:
Hi Daniel,
Unfortunately, despite the efforts of my committee and of union members in other provinces, Gyeonggi KTU has decided to stand by its statement.
Though they do apologize to those foreign teachers whose attitudes to sex are less ... foreign (I know, wtf).
I have resigned from the union.
All the best,
Jason
I also received another message from a KTU member who is also disgusted. It reads as follows:
Thank you for your email.
I think I understand how you feel. As soon as I received your email, I searched the Gyeonggi KTU website. After I had read the press release, I felt really discouraged. As one member of the KTU, which consists of 16 provincial KTUs, I really want to apologize. I am at a loss for what to say except "I'm so sorry as a member of the KTU." Although I don't have a formal position with the KTU, I am trying to do my best to see a public retraction of the statement.
I am in the International Working Group at Incheon KTU. We are investigating the real working conditions of foreign native speakers whether they are in a school or not. One of the main aims of the Working Group is to improve the working conditions of foreign teachers.
I want to let you know the website address of the Gyeonggi KTU. The website address is http://chamkk.eduhope.net/bbs/index.php?board=chamkk
To write your opinion, you have to click the second one[in Korean, 이야기마당] on the bar from the left, and then click the second one [열린마당] on the sub category.
_______________________________________
Now, go fill their board with statements of disgust and denunciation.
Sincerely,
Daniel

No, we don't. It's because of attitudes like yours that we have to deal with it more. Just imagine if everyone had the same attitude about every problem. I'm so sick of apathetic people.

Jason.
Well done. Someone has to stand by some principals.......
Daniel, thanks for the links, will reply. Especially concerning the blabla about early exposure to English stunting the young minds of Koreans....
(is there such a term as pedolinguophobia?????)

Good to see the fellow quit. The KTU clearly didn't deserve to have him. All the the best, Jason. |

Gee, to think... we'd probably have the Korean Government on our side if we were to attack the KTU.
I too will write them. |

I can't seem to figure out how to post. Could someone please post this on there for me?
--------------------------------
Very few foreigners who have been in Korea for any length of time can take Korean journalism seriously. Much the same goes for educational institutions. Here we have a case of two Koreans commiting sexual abuse at a place where foreigners happen to work, and now the foreign community is getting smeared for it. What does our presence have to do with your perverts running amuck? Perhaps if you had better guidlines and actually charged Koreans who do this sort of thing with sexual abuse it wouldn't happen.
If you do wish to be taken seriously or get any respect from the foreign teaching community, I strongly suggest that you do the right thing and apologise for these remarks. If a newspaper or educational institute's publication in Canada tried to blame the presence of Koreans for crimes commited by Canadians and not retract them, it would face a class-action lawsuit. Can you not live up to similar standards if you consider your country to be reasonably civilised?
It's things like this that really make me want to consider moving to Japan. Shame on you. |

Here are the instructions as best as I can explain it. I just posted something.
Hit the button at the bottom of the main page.
The first box is the title, second box I just put a "." (not sure what its for) third box email, fourth box maybe a password (I put in 1234).
In the next section you will see some letters and numbers. This is like a verification code to stop spam. Make sure to enter exactly (although don't worry about uppercase).
The first mid size box I put a "." in (again not sure what it's for)
The second box (much larger box) my comments. The third box (which is the same size as the first mid size one I left blank.
At the bottom click on the button on the left.
If someone can refine the directions please feel free to repost them. I can't type on Korean on my computer so I'm limited on how to explain it otherwise.
Hope that helps |

I agree, this is the type of, "blah blah you have to take it" attitude that enables these ppl to continue to step on us. No offense to Otis or others who have the same attitude, but if your not interested don't respond.

4. Fourth box: password
5. Fifth box: type the English letters present

The petition is a good secondary idea, but not enough.
Right now I'm throwing out the idea of a protest (as in a march). I realize some people will downright pee their pants laughting, but I'm serious.
We need a min 200 teachers

Of course, not everyone agrees with the conclusions of the esteemed Prof. J. Philippe Rushton, who wrote the article/book you are referring to. It might have something to do with him basing his claims on something he read in Penthouse Forum.
Quote: |
In a similar vein, some of Rushton's references to scientific literature with respects to racial differences in sexual characteristics turned out to be references to a nonscientific semipornographic book and to an article in the Penthouse Forum (see a review in Weizmann, Wiener, Wiesenthal, & Ziegler, 1991). Rushton's claims that fertility rates are higher in Blacks disharmonize with well-known high figures for some Caucasoids such as North American Hutterites (a group of Swiss- German ancestry, see a review in Weizmann et al., 1990, 1991). Rushton' s claims about racial differences with respect to brain, intelligence, crime, sexuality, and fertility (and also twinning rates; see Lynn, 1989a, 1989b; Weizmann et al., 1991) are based on an extremely biased and inadequate review of literature. |
Full article here.
Of course, some people DO agree with him. Namely, David Duke. |

Good for you, Daniel. Also, I suggest people looking for any international affiliation of labour unions the KTU belongs to. Western PC types may give them a harsh rebuke for their racism. Anyhow, get involved in this and show the KTU that its not alright to slander foreign teachers. |
