i got a job in paju city as a public elementary school teacher. it turns out i'm the only one at the school, which came as a shock. the recruiting agency didn't mention it. however, i did get a nice 3 bedroom apartment just 5 minutes from the school.
anyway, what i was wondering was if there are any other expats(especially musicians) in the area, and what there is to do here.

Paju's a bit out in the sticks from what I hear but I haven't been there. However, there is an English Village with about 120 or so expats - some of them "edutainers" Laughing which means there's gotta be a musician or two.

Paju is close to the Heyri art community, with many cafes and galleries. There is also a Ddalkis, Strawberry Girl Park, with all things relating to the character, Strawbery Girl. Her friends are ddongjimi and watermelon, subak boy.

Depends where exactly in Paju are you going to be. There are many buses that go to Ilsan and Seoul (usually Seoul station or Sinchon near Yonsei/Ewha/Hongdae). Also there is a local train that costs 1200 won to Seoul Station and takes only about 40-50 minutes. Basically, it doesn't take much, possibly an hour or hour and a half to get where the action is in Seoul. Or less if you wanna hang out in Ilsan. I travel for work usually 6-7 hours daily 3 out of 4 weeks in a month, so 1-1.5 hours is nothing.

In Paju as for night-life there is not much, but if you enjoy country side and what it has to offer then its OK.

Heyri is OK (www.heyri.net) but once you visit there for a few times becomes boring. Then, there is also a "Book city" similar to Heyri with many bookstores and what not. Again, I wouldn't consider either of the two places as a permanent hangout place.

These days they are building a subway extension in that area since it became a hot real-estate market for the last year or so, so development is on the rise there.

My brother:

There are many Africans in Paju City who'd love to meet you.

Try it out.

Went to PaJu once. I got drunk with a friend and ended up at this huge red light district...I left the next day a happy man.

Dude, u didn't have to go to Paju for that. Depending where u live, u can go to 588 or Miari to have the same. And shame on you by the way.

For the OP, try checking where exactly in Paju-si are you going to be. If you are in Geumcheon then your transportation options are great and its an OK little village/town.
If in Paju sagori which is northern area, up north from Paju and Wollong station towards Munsan then its not that great, if u wanna move.

Word!

Pretty sure I'll be in Paju mid-July. I play guitar, drums, bass, and sing. So it probably doesn't surprise you that I'll be at "the village". I'll pm you when I get there so we can jam or something.
