It seems you are over-estimating your looks, which is quite common in stuck up spoilt little brats. Of course Koreans say you are attractive, they say that to EVERYONE. I'm thinking that in reality you simply are not that good looking. Korea is very focused on looks, and if you don't make the grade, perhaps you could look at getting work as a nanny?
Really? Koreans say EVERYONE is attractive? No, they don't. At least not the Koreans where I worked last year. I did send my resume AND photo to a school and afew hours later, got a call. But, the director wanted me there in just a few days, so I turned it down. I thought something was fishy.

OK, well maybe if you were fat they would tell you that you were fat.

But if you're not fat, you look like a movie star.

I can assure you that I am far from handsome, but I don't know how many times I heard that when I was in Korea. I think it was the only English sentence these people could string together.... "oh, you very handsome." I can assure you that no one would say that to me in Canada.

Having met Bigmac in person I can vouch for the honesty of his statement Laughing

Well they do say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder Wink , I do get told that I'm beautiful quite often here too, the other day someone told me that I look like Drew Barrymore. It's really a Korean thing.

To the OP maybe you are just been too picky in your search for work, there are so many jobs out there. Maybe you just need to come back over to Korea and look from here rather than searching from the States, would make your search a bit easier.

Gollum probably weighed less than Princess. And I think he had blue eyes.

Lots of animals are cute. Would a person who looked like an animal be considered cute or ugly?

My boss once said, "I don't think beautiful people can teach." Maybe that's why he hired me. Surprised

Image means something to these bosses. Somewhat. Depends on the demand in whichever locale. Sometimes. The bookworm types might stand a better chance getting hired over the good looks types.

A lot of hagwons might want to hire a newbie at a lower salary, but I think more, nowadays, want the impression that they have a "real" teacher with experience. Losing out on a hun or couple of hun/month might be worth it to them.

Anyway, I'm not so sure princess is all that cute. Who knows? She could be a he.

Hey Princess, why don't you post your picture on here so we can all see for ourselves whether you really are a princess or not.

And thanks, Grotto, for vouching for me!

And flotsam, that will be enough of your ageist jokes. Don't make me come over there. Some day, you'll be my age, and you won't find it so funny.

Have to find your cane first, grannie. And I done hid your bi-focals.
I saw your photo here, and, frankly, my dear, you're not a good-looking guy already, and chances are you won't age well. My students are convinced that I'm the illegitimate son of Sean Connery. Your picture suggests that you're the *beep* son of Mr Bean. I didn't want it to come to this, but you insulted me. Let's get back on the high road now.

My students tell me I look like Brad Pitt, and isn't 62 the enforced retirement age in Korea?

You know, for a second I thought you were serious. And then I read you refer to this thread as "the high road".

You're a pretty cool sage.
These cheap shots are beneath you. I've read previous posts of yours and found you to be an intelligent and articulate guy. Perhaps you had a bad day. Oh, and while you attempt to deconstruct my 'name', you'll never get close to the source. Enjoy the thunderstorms tonight. I'm hoping for some hail. Cheers.

Is there really a shortage of teachers in Korea? I don't think so. Usually, when I tell a school I am in the states, they stop speaking to me. I think one day, schools will no longer pay airfare. Everyone will just have to fly themselves over and look for a job. Furthermore, I think many of these "schools" are just too picky. I applied for a job in May. They emailed me syaing they would get back to poeple by May 12th. Come May 12th, I heard NOTHING. But, they did have a new ad on here dated May 11th looking for teachers. Lo and behold, they even had another ad on here today.

Also, a school that decided not to hire me AFTER I had already signed a contract in February, has been on Dave's hiring teachers since then. Today they also had an ad on here. These schools need to get real.

Hmmmm, do you have a degree? Are you an American citizen? Maybe you are dealing with shady recruiters. I actually know of several schools in Daegu, Ilsan, and Bundang that are hiring right now, and that will send you an airline ticket and bring you over. If you're interested and you really do want to work in Korea email me: [email protected]

Teaching shortage? Who really cares. I guess it will supposedly make us a commodity...although, probably not, because this is dynamic Korea. Anwhere else...yes. In Korea...no. It doesn't matter because these are crap teaching jobs that aren't worth anything more than escaping with the dosh and enjoying life elsewhere. If you don't like it...I've got two words for you. S____ I____!

princincest,

If you worked in Korea so long, you should have enough money saved to come here direclty and job hunt. That's the only way. Especially if you're not a newbie.

It's funny. If you want to teach in Taiwan, there's no way at all you should sign overseas. That's like suicide.

Princess didnt you write about your love of 420 in a post on a thread and I believe that you wrote about using a designer drug. Koreans can read English and do monitor this board. Be more careful what you write. As far as your G.P.A. Khao San Road does not have that tough of a curriculum. Druggies shopuld be sent home!

Princess: The jig is up. You must post a picture of your petite figure, your blonde locks and your stunning blue eyes. Otherwise, as Flottie says, you're about as pretty as a pet pig. Also, given your command of language and syntax, you might want to post a copy of your alleged degree. Some questions at this end, you little porkie you.
