After nearly three years here, what was once just a thinning patch is now a large bald spot! Can anyone help me in my hour of need? Very Happy I've heard that Propecia has the highest rate of success for baldness, but when I've mentioned this product to my Korean doctor, he's just looked at me blankly.

I'm very keen to try this product if it is available here. I'm in Busan. Possibly Propecia goes under a different name here, or maybe I'm just not pronouncing it in the way that Koreans do. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Failing that there seem to be some good alternatives on the home shopping networks.

You could check out this page http://www.propecia.com/propecia/cns/contact/contact_us.html.
and if you want e-mail them and ask if it's available here and under what name.
Good luck. Smile

Propecia is available in Seoul, but it is fairly expensive. An alternative is to use prosca instead. It's about the same price, does the same thing, but you cut the pill in 4 and take one part per day (bedtime) four days on and one off. I've been using it since late May and it seems to be working just fine for me.

Best of luck,
Kalhoun

Thanks, especially to Kalhoun & Ghost in the Machine. Someone else has suggested Rogaine instead, and I may give that a try first. As for shaving it, it may suit Bruce Willis but not my cucumber-shaped face.

To Joe Bradley,

In answer to your question. Yes, Propecia is available. For one months supply it will cost you 55.000 won, four packets with seven tablets in each of them. I had a HT last December and my plastic surgeon wrote out the precription for me, as he does every two months. So it might be the case that you will need to see a plastic surgeon to get the drug. Pm me if you need more info.

Propecia has mixed results and only a small fraction of individuals experience significant regrowth. For most, it simply slows the progression. It also has serious side-effects in large numbers of men, the most severe being erectile dysfunction and decreased (significantly) libido.

The cheapest way to acquire Propecia (Finasteride) in Korea is to order it online through a whole-sale company.

A very cheap one that ships to Korea is www.medicinedrugstore.com.

I think that the side effects are usually minor in small numbers of men. It can also be harmful to both kidney & livers. Yes, it does somewhat shrink your prostate gland, but that's not usually a bad thing, really.

I would go for proscar since it's cheaper. A doctor can write out a prescription.

Is it that important? Maybe you should let nature take its course. I'm not trying to be negative by the way.

Yes, I'd say it is, especially if you're in your early/mid twenties. I'm nearly 25 and thinning a bit at the corners of my brow line. I've already received pitying comments from friends who have seen recent photos I've emailed them (the friends who arn't going bald themselves that is Wink). It's humiliating and incredibly frustrating. It's especially disheartening to feel powerless to stop the balding process. At least if you're overweight you can diet/excercise. Balding is a slow, permanent humiliation.

It's like every day of your life being a bad hair day, each day slightly worse than the one before.
