Seems like a lot of you will be out boozing tonight, so I'm curious as to how some of y'all are going to make yourselves be functional tomorrow As a side note, I'm on the wagon, but I started this thread 'cuz I need some (especially less traditional) anti-nausea ideas.
Does Bacchus work? What's in it? Does it taste absolutely vile? |

Milky coffee sorts out any alcohol/drug/combo hangover I've ever had. Simply warm a mug of milk up in the microwave, add instant coffee and sugar, stir, and reheat until it goes creamy.... Mmmmmmm!
(Its even better if you warm the milk up in a pan on the stove, as the milk sometimes forms a layer of skin on the top. However, the microwave method is much more conveinient, which is what you want when you're hungover) |

Mix one can of tuna, 3 raw eggs, 1 cup of milk, and 2 asprin in the blender. The taste is awful but the protein count is high. Protein is proven to aid in the hangover recovery. Enjoy.... |

Teaching is an excellent hangover cure. Well, it is if you've got a nice class, or moderately nice class. You dread going to that first class and wish to God you were back in bed, but in less than 5 mins your hangover's - woosh - gone. It's all psychological.
Before then, water, lots of water, a long shower, 2 eggs on toast for brecky, walk to work (if you don't usually and it's not impossibly far) to get your metabolism (sp) going. That wakes you up. |

| I think its all about what you do the night before-gotta stay hydrated...Before I crash I drink a Condition drink (small green bottle), a 2% drink, and take like 4-5 extra strength tylenol or acetominophin (sp?), and I'm good the next day...Also, yu-k-jahn-the spicy korean soup is money the next day... |

Sauna seriously works wonders, and is the best option in my opinion. While you're in there, drink lots of water and sweat out the liquor. After, keep drinking copious amounts of water. If you keep puking it up, drink smaller amounts until it'll stay down. Water before you pass out does help; at the very least, it'll make your puke less acidic. Bacchus I'd avoid unless you really need the jolt, but it'll cause your blood to rush which won't help your headache. Other vitamin drinks later in the afternoon, once you've begun to shake the worst of the headache will help prep you for the next night. There is one brand designed specifically for hangovers; can't remember the name but it's a black and red bottle (which narrows it down to about 40 different types).
I'd also recommend staying away from the pills, especially ibuprofin, unless you absolutely feel it necessary, because they do do a lot of damage to your liver and stomach. Save your organs for the liquor!
Remember, the reason why you're hungover is because you're body is dehydrated; your body uses the water to burn the alcohol, so anything that further dehydrates you is to be avoided, such as coffee.
Food --> Toast and egg are nice, or a thin soup. Chicken noodle or beef work best for me. I once had ramyon that helped a hangover, but I'd try this at your own risk. Bland, simple foods. No milk.
Spin: if you think a hangover is purely psychological, you haven't learned to drink yet |

There are a lot of "hangover cures" that are nothing more than extremely ugly and painful things to drink in the morning, and the ultimate effect is to dissuade you from your next hangover - remembering the terrible feeling of having to take it is likely to dissuade you, on a Skinnerian level, from putting yourself in a place where you'd be this hungover ever again.
I think they are the last remnants of subtle efforts put forh a century ago by The Temperance League to end the practice of drinking in large amounts at any time. I resist such goals and I abhor such methods.
The Bobster declares "thumbs down on your tuna, egg, milk, aspirin and blender. Fie on you, I say! Feh! Feh!" |

| i sometimes wake up without a hangover...lovely mornings. they remind me of how it felt to be a kid, when all was right with the world. (i clearly need a bigger cure than for the hangover). i've never figured out a good cure...i believe it's a myth. ..you just need water and sleep. water, water, and more water. tho i did stumble outta bed this sunday and open a can of tuna, put it in a bowl, and threw some ketchup in it, mixed it up. great stuff. (i may have still been drunk) not sure it cured much. but i had some water then, and went back to sleep. i felt better eventually. |
