You think Korea is bad?...try Thailand...lol. Theres no problem with your contract. Theres no problem with your pay. Theres no problem with your housing. There arent any problems except you will starve to death and have a room full of students waiting to leave like a convicts waiting for parole everyday.
Thai Motto
When the book closes we dont speak English.
How does $11 US dollars an hour sound...lol
Thank God for social security and 401k plans if you live in Thailand. |

the grass might not be greener but:
The people are nicer
The food is better
There's more to do
There's more to see |

True, to a point. There ARE well paying jobs in the "land of smiles" but they are hard to come by. Most offer between 30-45 000 baht which isn't much to live on especially when you have to pay your own rent. You will NOT live like a king and (especially in Bangkok) everything is priced for the rich bank executive or wealthy tourist. Being white there means you have money and Thais never believe you if you say you don't. Even if as an English teacher it is often true.
I agree that I had a hard time for over a year in Thailand...the temptation to live and spend like a tourist is just too overwhelming. BUT once I learned how to do things I started to be ok. Except at the high paying jobs it is not easy to save much. The best advice I can give is work your arse off in Korea (or elsewhere) for a year, save up, and work in Thailand for "beer" money.
Vietnam is much better for the money but Thailand is still where my heart is... |

2 buddies of mine went to Thailand about 10-12 years ago. They are both married to Thai women and are quite happy.
J. just landed a 90,000 baht a month teaching job in Bangkok(after years of barely scraping by)as a director
W. has been working for the Thai government for years and has always made decent coinage. |
