I tutor Korean businessmen here in the U.S. for a short-term English program. We're looking for an advanced textbook that has newpaper-ish articles, and also boxes with vocabulary explanations and possibly some grammar explanations. Know of any textbooks like that? These guys speak English well and read it even better- they can read Wall Street Journal articles without many problems- so the book needs to be advanced.

Thanks for the help!

While I havent used the advanced level of this book, I like the Market Leader series. It is published by a company out of London (I think), but you should be able to download a sample chapter from most of their books to determine if any of the levels would work for you.

Good luck!

Thanks!

Any other ideas?? The Market Leader looks great, but after searching around it seems like it will be hard to get ahold of in the U.S. I just need a book that is easy to find that will be somewhat interesting and good for advanced learners, since I don't have much time to teach these guys and need to find something fast. (It's a conversation class but they also wanted a textbook).

Please? Any other advice? Some of you must teach English to adults with a fairly high level of English....

New International Business English (OUP? or CUP?) - Warning: also British English oriented.

I'm not sure why you are having trouble finding a suitable book in the US and need to consult a Korean job forum!

Personally, I'm always keen to give adults a broader base of English, not just pure business language. Therefore, I'd also suggest the Cutting Edge series by Pearson Education - comes in both American and British versions. Has good vocab boxes, reading sections and advanced level is really advanced.

Also, refer to my website under 'B' for Business below...:
