Hey, no doubt this topic has been done to death, and if so I apologize. I'm just trying to get my head around what my finances are going to be like. I will be living in Seoul (more than likely) and curious how much on average people spend. I fully intend to be out at least one night a week gettin wasted, what with being fresh out of Uni it really is my only skill.

I don't spend a lot on clothes or posessions. I have a computer, but would like eventually to get a decent digi camera.

Any ballpark figures I can work with here?

Payce,
Patch

The rule of thumb over there is that you can live like a hermit and save 2/3 of your salary, or live comfortably and save about half. The cost of living is high for Koreans, but it's because of things like housing and the cost of educating the kids, which don't really apply to most of us

And because of buying, fueling and insuring cars, too. Yes, many foreigners have them as well, but there aren't the same expectations & pressures on us to spend our annual salary on a new one.

If you like to live a little, expect to save under half, but not by that much.

If you're living right 'in' Seoul, are fresh out of uni, and wanna get wasted "at least once a week", I reckon that you'll probably be out much more than that. From what I've seen of Seoul, its a party city with something to do and somewhere to go pretty much every night of the week. It's a capital city after all. How much you spend and save will be purely down to how you manage your social life and spending. But I'm sure you'll have a ball....
