Hi,
My husband and I both have degrees and TESL certificates. We are in the midst of searching for a summer camp to work at. We have applied to some and are trying to decide which are good or bad. We are in Canada right now and are hoping this will work for us to do this summer. I am just wondering whether anyone out there knows of good camps or ones to stay away from....
What are your experiences?
Thanks |

I don't want one now, but I'm also curious for maybe next year...
Are any of them awesome wicked pay for the work involved? (NO PMs! ) |

i've worked at one summer and one winter camp in the past. actually the summer camp was a summer intensive and i made far more money doing far less work than i would have done at a camp, but at the same time i think a camp is more fun.
from what i can see, the best you can hope for is to get about a million wan per week, and that you will not get airfare paid. but camps are paying more than they used to, and are likely more careful about C4 visas. But they seem to want to hire within Korea and borrow teacherd already on E2 visas which seems dodgey. Immigration targets camps and has a hay day with at least one every summer that gets splashed all over the news. It seems you can count on camps to involve a few things that are guaranteed - disorganisation, a korean manager walking off the job a week into things, rich kids that get homesick and can't be pleased, the odd foreign teacher mroe focused on office romances. the kids will get bored and mutiny from time to time depending on the work load. but, sometimes things go really well.
im looking for a camp myself. ultimately, they are the best way to return or enter korea on a job hunt. |
