KTF English service? No man, they're too poor to hire someone with good English skills to talk on the phone. Laughing

Okay. The truth is I am using KTF. I have a problem still with sending text messages to other countries. I understand it can be done, but you have to dial a special number or something before sending the text messge.

I tried calling KTF myself to get the answer. Do you think they had anyone who could speak English. No.

They have an English web page, but it's beeeeeeeep! Not very informative. So weird. This country spends so much on English education, but we so seldom see the English language applied in daily life here.

Dev, I disagree. "Have A Good Time" is English.

. . . and that's pretty much the extent of it. God, I've never been more frustrated and jaded with "English Fever" than after dealing with cell phone people.

(I did conduct a lot of the transaction in Korean, but, still, if you spend 10 years studying a subject it'd be great if you could demonstrate a basic proficiency in it. Rolling Eyes )

KTF has no English speaking operators to help foreigners. Maybe they should outsource this job to college students in India like Dell Computers does. Very Happy

KTF proves that Koreans are not very smart in business. There's a sizeable foreigners cell phone market in Korea which not only includes English teachers, but also workers from Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, India, Germany to name a few. I'd say that all these people could put a significant amount of money into KTF's pockets. Apparently, they don't want as big a piece of the market as they can get. They need to hire some foreign managers to show them how marketing is done. But you'll see cows fly before that happens. Smile

On a positive note, I see that Korean Airlines has finally got an English website for foreigners living in Korea. Asiana has had one for at least the past year. Now you can bypass the travel agencies and book your own tickets with your credit card.

Did you catch Korean Airline's typo laden ad they ran for a couple weeks in the english papers ballyhooing that site? It was disturbing they'd spend so much money on web designers and full color ads but couldn't grab some waegook in Starbucks, slip him o man won, and get him to read the fakin' thing before they went to press.

You are wrong.
Every time I call KTF, I speak to an English-speaking operator. They even have Japanese- and Chinese-speaking staff.

Use the SEARCH function on this site and you shall find at least one special code with which you are able to send text messages internationally (which is a snap).

P.S. The reason why KTF operators may not know that information (or divulge it) is because the service is run by a different phone call company.

To send an INTERNATIONAL sms, dial 002+country code+phone number.

It's actually DACOM who offer the international SMS service.

That's not been my experience. But I called them about 3 months ago. You know Korea - things can change in just one day.

That's a stupid reason. They should include international textmessaging in their list of all the wonderful things their phones can do. Not telling people almost suggests that the function doesn't exist with KTX.

I'd better get off this topic 'cause I hate all the cell phone companies in Korea and my own country. They rip people off.

KTF has a foreign service line. The number is 2190-1180. I've called twice. Strange as it seems, I think I couldn't get through from my cell phone though and I had to call from my house phone...
