By under the influence I mean not necessarily pissed drunk, but have had enough to alter your mood a bit. I'm also including time when you're passed out or asleep but still have enough in your bloodstream that if you were woken up your alcohol level would show up on a breathaliser. Calculate it on an hours per weekly basis and figure out your average. |

hmm... most of us would be under 5%, i'm guessing.
assuming that it takes 1 hour for 1 drink to leave your system, people who drink 9 glasses of alcohol a week would be at 5%.
you'd have to drink 18 a week to be at 10%.
on the other hand, if you get sloshed every day, drinking 9 beer each day for a total of 63 for the week, you'd still only be at 37%.
and yeh, there's no zero option. this poll needs revising!

That's cause you dweebs sit around stalking people on the net all day.
The vast majority of ESL teachers here are big boozers, mark my words.
And I'm one of the biggest. |

(And that goes double for non-teachers)
Frankly, I'm sure I'd be in the 5-10% category if you asked me 5-10 years ago. Just as nearly every Korean male of drinking age I've ever worked with was. And not only Korea, but Hong Kong & Japan and elsewhere. The fact is, there's an awful lot of ritualised after-work drinking going on by the menfolk of Asia and Europe and elsewhere, and I don't personally consider that a terrible social no-no, a big crime against the family, or a sin against one's God... unless they're a Mormon or a Muslim, I suppose. |

The game against Togo on Tuesday was the first time in 7 months that I've had more than one drink on a school night. And I got seriously hammered. On the plus side I've figured out that I've pushed my tolerance of soju up to three bottles without vomiting.
However, to stay on topic, I only drink one or two days a week. Friday or Saturday nights. Sometimes both, but usually only one. Two straight days of drinking soju is just to rough on me. I can't stand beer and I'm not paying upwards of 7 or 8 bucks a pop just for cocktails to do what I can do with soju for half the price and much faster. I don't drink for the enjoyment of drinking, I drink to get drunk and I've found soju to be the best weapon of choice. I figure that puts me in the 5 to 10% of the time. between 4 and 8 days a month over the 7 months i've been here. I dunno, I don't want to do the math, but it sounds good.

What about 18~21 litres of soju a month? Where on the poll would that put someone? I mean hypothetically speaking, of course. |

I always drink on friday and saturday without fail. Itry not to drink during the week because of early starts at work, but I have been doing recently because I've been socializing more. I've more discipline these days - can have just a couple. Previously, it was either 100% straightheaded or 110% drunk, with nothing in between. Mind you, my 'drunk' is not vomiting and passing out in the toilet. I've done that once in Korea, but - without boasting (it's hardly something to boast about) - getting me in that state requires a LOT of alcohol. I went from January to early June hardly drinking at all during the week and I'm gonna go back to that because I'll put on weight. I could do 3 bottles of soju, be very drunk, but probably not vomit. But more than that and I'll probably be sick and definitely feel dreadful next day. 3's the ideal amount actually - sometimes 2 is sufficient. I don't give a fook what people say about drinking and drugs. If you're happy being straightheaded 24/7/52 then good for you, but I enjoy being chemically-altered. It's fun! |

If you drink all the time- Not drinking on any particular night, becomes a non-issue.
Think about it. |

I studied math for years, my friend, even at an advanced level in uni, so I'm pretty confident when I say that less than 5% includes 0%.
Of course I would never have known this without my advanced studies, so I can understand how one who has not delved much into mathematics might be confused.
(Pardon the sarcasm, just having fun. Cheers. Plus you were probably joking right?) |

In the last 10 days... I'd go with 100%
My first 9 months in Korea.. I'd also go with 100%
(if you've drunk enough you can still be drunk the next day..)
Now, outside of worldcup season, I'm probably back in the 15% zone.
Now I am on vacation and its the worldcup! woo! 100% baby! drink all night and morning, wakeup in the afternoon, drink some more, then go out on a hot date but be too drunk to be charming, then go watch some soccer when the girl deeks! Assah! |

Was too busy to be three sheets to the wind on any regular basis in Korea. Don't like alcohol that much either--does nasty things to my body and I've always hated waking up feeling like crap--a wasted day. Once or twice a year though I get pretty deep into the dark rum |
