becareful as they are known thugs in the industry , they are like a recruiter but they place in public schools around Seoul and supply all the ciriculum .
if you piss them off like closing there bank account like i did , they start making personal threats to you and your family if you are married to Korean
If you dont agree with them and give them no money it turns violent like it did with me , they hit like 4 times (they hit like girls ) and the principle said he does not care about your safety .

| I would like to know, very interested, in which way these two accounts are used. Is it that all the income from your classes are deposited there and you are expected to what fund the company...? I don't understand their (bank account's) purpose. Please explain a little. |

I was all set to sign a contract for one of these after school public school programs, when the words "tuition bank account" were mentioned. I read every thread I could find on this site about the two bank accounts issue and the after school programs, and although I came across a lot of useful information, aspects of this situation are still a bit murky.
I was really looking forward to this job (good hours, as has been mentioned many times, and location). Is there anyone who is working for the after school program who does not have this shady bank account business going on? I'm not willing to agree to it so do I have to give up altogether the idea of working at an after school program?
Also, just out of curiosity - why are the students paying tuition for these programs anyway? I thought the government was creating and funding them with the object of avoiding elitism by easing the financial burden associated with keeping your children institutionalized 12 hours a day. Maybe the tuition is just low in comparison to a hagwon? |

The bank account's purpose (the one you have no access to) is to shift the burden of tax payment onto the teacher. Since it is registered in your name, the tax authorities come after YOU for it. So you pay tax twice. Once on what you earn as a teacher, and once for the funds "earned" in that account. It's a tax scam pure and simple. |

The tuition fee is very low to allow more disadvantaged (poorer families) to attend extra classes. I think it's 15,000 W a month or something like that. Since they are using the school facilities, and then also some money from the government, the costs are low. They also offer classes for other subjects.
I think this is a good idea. Why should the school facilities not be fully utilized? The big problem with these programs is that they are handed out to firms or individuals who are not acting in the best interest of education, and again, the students suffer. |
