Q: Does an E-2 visa, allow you to undertake ESL/EFL based research, in addition to your regular teaching responsibilities/privileges?
Q: If not, what visa is required?
Q: Can you make an application to have your visa modified, if you need a different one, once you are in the country.? |

If you are on an E2 then you already have a visa and status in Korea.
If you wish to ADD another activity, then go to immigration and make the application. The cost is 60,000 won, a letter of permission from your current boss allowing you the extra work and a copy of your new contract with whatever institute/institution is backing your research.
I am not 100% sure, but I don't think "independent" research outside of the auspices of a private or public institute is allowed.
You can form a research company but the paperwork and required minimum investment (50 million won) are formidable. |
