Definitely worth getting...but you are at the mercy of the owner. There would be times when I'm watching the games in the early part of the playoffs, and my friend's wife changes the game to American Idol.

Or you might want to consider investing in a slingbox and getting someone from back home to hook it up to their cable and internet so you can get 24 hour however many channels from home. It was the best 230 dollar investment I ever made. Just watched the Oilers win, and now am watching the second half of the Eskimos-Stampeders game....life is good!
www.slingbox.com or type slingbox in ebay and you'll get tons of listings.

Does that work well? i'm thinking of getting one set up when I go back this summer. Stream TV is OK but I lose the connection and have to reload about once every 1/2hr.
CFL Football!!!??? No way. Is it that time of the year already? Pre-season right? |
|
Yes it works great. It has great streaming action. I've owned mine for 3 months now, and its only gone down for about 4 hours total. As for being at the mercy of the owner. Tell your friend to get a splitter. Hook the TV up to one side and the slingbox to the other side. Then the tv they are watching never interferes with the tv you are watching.
And as for the CFL, it started the regular season this weekend. Eskies lost.
Hae a great month -- I am off to the Philippines for some scuba diving.

| And, boys and gals, I will post several pix of the Canes hoisting the venerable Stanely after tomorrow's match. Obviously, I will start a new thread. And, please, consider the thread as another crack at all you whiney Canuck hockey fans. You may have invented the game, but like most of life, we have improved upon it. Cheers. |

| Coolsage: Raleigh has become one serious hockey town. The playoffs have been sold out, and I mean completely. I was lucky to get two tickets for game 5, and they were in the nosebleeds. Much luckier with the 4 for tomorrow night. Actually, the tailgate parties outside RBC Center remind me of an ACC match-up between my Tarheels and NC State. The pigs are cooking and the beer is flowing. Can't wait for tomorrow night. Stay tuned for some fine photos of the Canes' first sip from the old cup. |

I fail to see how frenzied thoughtless expansion and the subsequent talent pool dillution has "improved upon" the game.
Dang, you're an arogant SOB. |

TH....the oilers embarrass your team: Utterly and completely humiliate them. I mean, 7 shots in two periods...faceoffs? please.... hits? groan? speed? bahahahaaaa.... special teams? poof.
1) The last two games the oilers have gained the momentum. It has come to the point that CAROLINA needs the luck to put it together.
Please DO post pictures of the Canes hoisting the cup (uhm...well....). I'd LOVE to see a few canadians doin' all your work.

| Isn't it kind of funny that the Carolina Hurricanes play in a stadium names after a Canadian bank? |

Ah, you loveable northern losers, how are you this early afternoon? Me, I'm about to get in the pick-up and head a few miles up the road to the RBC Center, where the Hurricanes will kick the proverbial Canucky butt this evening. I'll be sure to post a few photos tomorrow, and because we are a genteel southern lot, we just might let a few Canucky hired hands hold the cup aloft. Oh, yes, here's a photo of the Game 7 Ticket. Obviously, I've removed the seat and section numbers to ensure some privacy. Now, one more time, O Canada, let's hear you sing that merriest of all tunes, "I am Canadian." Do we have an identify crisis or what?

| I guess Tarheel13 doesn't seem to realize that the majority of the players for the Hurricanes are Canadian, including the captain and both assistant captins. In fact, Only 7 are American. In Game 7, 2 Canadians scored goals and 1 European. Where is the American improvment on the Canadian game, Tarheel? You guys don't improve the game, you just pay our Canadian players good coin to put your teams on the map. |

Alright...
For all of you that don't know, UNC-Chapel Hill, also known as "Carolina," fans are the most fair-weather fans on the planet. I would be willing to bet that a list of Tarheel's favorite teams would look something like this...
NBA- Mavericks or Heat, depending on who wins the NBA championship.
NFL - Carolina Panthers (They are going to win the SuperBowl, you know.)
MLB - Yankees
Soccer - Real Madrid or Arsenal, depending on to whom they are talking
and so on...
Most of my family went to UNC-CH, while I went to NCSU. Carolina fans (And I mean UNC-CH, not the Hurricanes) are completely and hopelessly addicted to being the fan of whoever wins.
That being said, the Hurricanes completely came in and won the Stanley Cup for a huge group of new hockey fans. You haters should be revelling in the fact that the Southeastern teams are doing well, because that is going to be the bread and butter of the NHL for the next 20 years.
Oh, and
Canes Rock! not only because they are from my hometown, but because they play in the same place as my alma mater. |
