Just thought I'd pass on a good idea to anyone out there who is job hunting and wanting a bit of an edge.

I used Myspace to make an online resume complete with videos of me teaching (uploaded to YouTube) and slide shows of myself and students and a download link of my rsume uploaded to Ripway.com. I recorded some of my classes a while back on digital camera and introduced myself with a webcam. All in all, I am surprised at how impressed some of the schools have been and I've got some really nice offers. Myspace is really flexible and easy to customize if you have even a little bit of skill with html. Basically, when I apply for a job now, all I do is a little intro in an email and send the link to my website. It makes things a lot easier! No more attatchments and the schools can see I'm a good teacher with the videos.

I'm just curious....how many people out there actually use Myspace? Sometimes I hate it....all the bling bling and people using chat lingo that could only come from the mouth of eminem (holla, wateva, wassup, yo, temme etc.) and of course the annoying GIFS and the posturing and the adds etc etc. I heard it was modeled after cyworld. If you ask me, cyworld is boring and juvenile and i'd never want to represent myself with a little barbie doll thing. but to each his own~

My portfolio is on a domain with paid hosting. I wouldn't use free hosting for something to do with my professional life.
