My parents set up back home leads me to think a wireless network goes something like this: You buy a wireless router, attach it to your existing VDSL connection and then it's good to go for all you wireless appliances (computers, laptops, game systems). There is only a monthly payment for the VDSL account.

My wife (korean) says our service provider here in Korea says: You pay for the VDSL subscription and rent a wireless router from them, paying 5,000 won extra per appliance per month. So, 30,000 (subscription) + 5,000 (game system) + 5,000 (laptop) + 5,000 (computer) = too much!

Are both of these options viable in Korea, or must I do what the service provider says??

If buy the router and set everything up yourself, I don't think you'll have to pay any extra charges. At least, I don't.

Thanks Thunndarr,

So, I'm about middling computer literate, I assume that you just follow the windows wizard to connect all your different devices to the new network... or is this the kind of setup for the more savvy user?
Also, I'm networking between a Korean OS and an English OS. In the past I've been able to go through the menus simultaneously and translate that way. Is this process straight-forward enough for that kind of approach?
