I have a friend who wants to come in August and most of the ticket prices she mentioned seemed a bit high. $1400.00 USD and up. Is that a good price? Would it be cheaper if she came at a different time of year? Can anyone recommend a place to buy cheap tickets?

I am wanting to go home to California in October. I was quoted $1700 as the discount price for one month tickets on Asiana and Korean Air from Seoul to LAX. Now I came to Bangkok for a summer break and guess what. The airfare from Bangkok to California is only $1000 and the plane stops in Seoul! Its the same flights over the pacific. So I will get the ticket here, and use it to get back to Seoul and then home and then return to Seoul and back to Bangok next Winter, all for much cheaper than just Seoul to Los Angeles.
So I recommend your friend get a ticket LAX to Bangkok and have a one week stop in Seoul (free stop on KE and Asiana). Then they will have to come to Thailand to get home (darn). I bet this will be cheaper than just booking to Seoul. Don't know why, I think just because there is so much competition on the LAX to BKK fights.

I got a return ticket for 1.1 mil Seoul to LA through Bangkok (great for me- massages, my favorite hairdresser in Siam square, a little shopping). BUT, it became 1.4 once taxes and fuel surcharges were added on.

I am able to layover in Bangkok for three days. Oh, and the ticket is for a 7 week stay. I got it from Kaytee at Zanadu.

Once in the States, after a while in L.A. I will be going to Florida. It's a 5 1/2 hour flight, non-stop, one way, $150!! Including taxes. I used to pay the big bucks (almost $2,000 last time) to go to Florida from Seoul through Chicago. Now I see it is better to just get to the west coast and get some good on-line deal for flights in the States.

I'm going from Seoul to SF next month for just under $1400 (1,389,000 won) round trip. Also from Xanadu.

It is more expensive this time of year and it is more expensive going from Seoul to USA than from USA to Seoul. I can only assume the government protects the airlines/travel agents as they do other industries.

If booking from the USA, try Singapore Airlines website. They have reasonable prices and, in my opinion, the friendliest and most comfortable service.
