How did the USA do at the last Basketball tourny in the Summer Olympics... |
True that.
But it's hard to get the best players. For instance, people like Shaq tend to back out because they are afraid of injuries. |

AND ANOTHER THING........
What the fook is the fooking Stanley Cup? What kind of crap name is that? The Olympics, the World Baseball Classic, the World Cup, the Rugby World Cup, the World Series.......and......the 'Stanley' Cup? It sounds like an old men's crown green bowling tournament! Have you ever seen crown green bowling in England? Now that's a crap sport. But 'Stanley Cup'? What ever next? The Arthur championship? The Winifred and Alf Cup? |

You have to expect the stupid name, it was given to Canada by an Englishman. |

And yet it is probably the oldest trophy of the bunch.
Given to Canada by Lord Stanley of England in 1892.
Most of the time you're alright Spin, try not to sound like an idiot like you just did. |

| This thread is really dumb. This whole "my sport is better than your sport" nonsense is getting old. |

Look.
England's national sport? Futbol. Yet they seem never to win a World Cup.
Canada's national sport? Hockey. But Americans who never really watch hockey always seem to win the Stanley Cup.
I love it. Why? It just makes it so easy and fun to goof on these two nationalities. |
I know nothing about soccer but England won the cup once, in '66. Even I know that.
You obviously know nothing about hockey.
Carolina - 2006 NHL Stanley Cup Champions
Corey Stillman; Peterborough, Ontario.
Glen Wesley; Red Deer, Alberta.
Aaron Ward; Windsor, Ontario.
Ray Whitney and Mike Commodore; Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
Eric Staal; Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Cam Ward; Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Justin Williams; Cobourg, Ontario.
Andrew Ladd; Maple Ridge, BC
Mark Recchi; Kamloops, BC
And Rod Brind'Amour; Ottawa, Ontario.
Toss in six Americans and a few key Europeans and you have the Carolina Hurricanes.
If it weren't for Alberta and Ontario the Hurricanes wouldn't exist."
Likewise in basketball if you took all the Americans out of the Totonto Raptors there wouldn't be too much left.
While I'm sorry to say the American national hockey team isn't faring too well these days, and Canada has sunk to #3 this year, I'm pretty sure Canada and Russia are still tied for #1 in number of All-Time Olympic Gold Medals and World Cups. The Montreal Canadians still hold the record for most Stanley Cups, and pretty much all the top 5 goalscorers in NHL history have been Canadians, too. So may I suggest you show some respect and learn to think clearly before you post? |

Too right my friend. If only what Otis said about dancing Englishmen were true. Sigh.

| I'm getting the feeling that Otis is that 'lowest common denominator' thingy people keep talking about. |
