A mate of mine has had some done here, but I advise you to hang on till you get a week's break and fly down to Bangkok or Bali where you can have it done by a professional, like I did in the latter. Can even give you a recommendation if you like. |

Go to your local 목욕탕 (public bath) and hang out naked till you see a guy with a nice tattoo. Chances are he's a mafia dude, but what the heck? Right? Walk up to him and (very politely) point to his tattoo and say something like, 'Hey, man. Jo-i-yo! Ow-di?'....He may take you by the hand and lead you to his tattoo parlor. Or maybe just over to the massage table for some interpersonal communication. But it's worth a try. Art is worth suffering for, isn't it? |

I thought tats were illegal in Korea. Hmmm.
What is the general attitude towards them? I have quite a few when my shirt comes off. I also heard that they were associated with gangs, and me not wants to be in Korean gang. |

Lots of aspects of it are. Private lessons, or teaching English on an H1 visa. I've seen a lot of jobs here that were about as greasy as a typical tattoo parlor. |

Exit 5 Hongdae Station. Go left at Family Mart and then right at Hongik Galbi (홍익갈비). There is a little clothes shop with a picture of Bob Marley outside and some very nice guys inside. One of them is a tattoo artist. |
