Well, I am in Korea now. Should I mostly eat Western food? Should I refuse to eat Korean food, like Koreans refuse to eat food of their host countries???? |
Why? |

Just bring your own bag lunch. I do. |

I wish I had a free lunch every day. Man, I wish I just had a lunch break. That would be awesome. |

"Man, I wish I had a neck blanket."
"Nah, you don't."
Steak and lobster dinner on me if anyone gets the cultural reference and source. |

Talking about a mullet, and it is from CBC radio. |

Well you were eating foreign versions of the original food in Thailand and Indo right?? You're getting the real thing here... what's the problem?
I was inducted into Korean dormitory life complete with canteen cuisine.
One day of rice and kimchee for breakfast was all it took to resolve that cultural dilemma. |

Damn, I was going to post first!! I listened to the final game on CHED, the Edmonton talk radio station and " the official voice of the Edmonton Oilers"!! Too bad they didn't make it.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread. |

This is perhaps the most reprehensible breakfast combination on the face of the earth. I'd rather start the day with a douse of stomach acid sloshing around, eating its way up to my throat than to start off with rice and kimchee. When my students tell me that's what they had for breakfast, I'm like... hasn't anyone ever heard of fruit? |

I also bring my own lunch to school. I just made it clear that I enjoy some Korean food but not all. (Focus on the 'enjoy'.) I've never had a problem with them not understanding and accepting that. |

I can't understand the reasoning for sticking only to Korean food when travelling. Maybe it's the, "We're Korean, so we should eat Korean food" thing? Maybe they really want to patronize Korean businesses overseas? I'd really like to know the root of this phenomenon.
Damn, can you imagine if Americans did that? I'm American, so I should only eat American food, particularly McD's, et all... |
