Well sign up then. Get yer butt over to Iraq....if that's what you want.

I was in the military for four years.

I was stuck on a remote island for three of those years freezing my butt off.

The purpose of the remote island was to track Soviet subs.

I froze; I ate bad food; drank beer; and never got laid. Why? The island's female population was less than 5 percent at the time.

I went to bed nervous a lot. I shared a room with two other men.

I also had my ribs broken by an overzealous Marine. I went tundra hopping and accidentally wandered into a confidential area. He hit me with the butt of his rifle. It hurt.

How many years did you serve?

Explaining away the savagery of Islamo droids is fun. I admire your ability to take up their defense. That's a liberal specialty, defending and or/explain away even the worst of human savagery.

Amen. Lord knows conservatives never defended any human savagery. Jonas Savimbi, Nicaraguan contras, Augusto Pinochet.. if it wasn't for chardonnay-sipping liberals in Manhattan, they truly would have had no friends in this world.

condoning and turning a blind eye are 2 different things. During the cold war, American conservatives did indeed ignore rights abuses in several cases, but nothing in comparison to the blind idealists of the left (not all but many) who still somehow see moral equivalence between the thousands of deaths in Latin America by right wing thugs as somehow analagous to the tens of millions wiped off the face of the Earth in the name of revolutionary socialism in places like China, Soviet Union, and Cambodia.
