Yep, that Sweden. Football is a funny old game, and a team that struggles against a caribbean banana republic will raise their game when playing against the Germans. Sweden are always a tough side, and I think Germany will have a tough time beating them, although I do expect the Hun to prevail.

Your hatred of the English has clearly blinded you of all evidence that runs counter to this absurd statement. England v Germany matches are rarely a 'walk in the park' for either team, and are usually resolved via penalties. The most recent competitive match between the two was 5-1 to England. Germany have yet to play a single decent team, and will struggle against the Swedes, who will be a far tougher proposition than the teams they have played so far.

True, England and Germany have almost the same record against each other. England - W-4,L-5,D-3.

Tactically, Sweden has all the tools to beat Germany, but I give Germany the benefit of lady luck, home field advantage and a whole lotta karma.

Germany 2-1 Sweden

I hope Germany get knocked out and right quick. It's more fun when they're being all cute and depressive.

Hmmm....You criticized me, saying I wanted Korea out and yet you say the same thing about the Germans. Rolling Eyes
Meh...Germany or Sweden, it's all good but I figure Germany will win due to them being the host nation. They seem to get the *ahem*...lucky breaks.

Why not?

Just a gut feeling, really.

But my real money (literally) is on Ghana to be the Cinderella team this year.

In '90 it was Cameroon.
In '94 it was Bulgaria
In '98 it was Croatia.
In '02 it was Turkey.
and for '06? Who do we have left? A toss-up between the Ukraine and Ghana in terms of expecations.
